Title: superbrothers: sword and sworcery
Post by: Seth on March 15, 2010, 10:50:59 PM
I'm sure many of you have already seen this:

http://www.indiegames.com/blog/2010/03/preview_superbrothers_sword_sw.html#more

what do you guys think of this?  personally I am a big fan of superbrothers from a pixel art standpoint.  I think the game looks great and I'll probably go out of my way to play it (which is something I never do).  not sure about the combat, though--I was hoping that the game as a whole would be more unconventional than what the trailers show, specifically the combat trailer.  not that superbrothers should be denied the option of making a more conventional game, or that this game doesn't have any more chances to surprise me

Yeah, I saw the video and I'm really excited for this. I haven't really wanted an iPhone game since I got my Touch, but this is one that I'll have to get for sure. Totally looks right up my alley. The art direction and atmosphere of the game just look outstanding.

Looks nice, but I'm starting to hate pixels.

I'm quite sure that the combat has a meaning in the game beyond the simple action aspect, but we'll see when the game is out.
The art is beautiful as always.

So an ideal iPhone game then?  :P

edit: I should add that I actually really like the look of this.

Took the liberty of fixing your title Seth. :)

Also, this look amazing, certainly. The combat may look simplistic, but that's probably the first fight in the game so it's understandable that it's easy.

The sound work is also amazing from that video. I love the sound of the bear hitting his shield.

when I play an iPhone game, i'm not looking for all that much substance. if they want to be eye candy, let 'em be; they're eye-candy with a debonair attitude I haven't often seen in iPhone games. I can forgive that. I hope.
