Because I have recently spent a lot of time on Fallout (usually 10 hours or so) everyday, I thought that it would be a good idea to hear from everyone else as well about playing games. I might be overexaggerating by saying that I've been playing Fallout for 10+, but it certainly feels like that's what I have been focused on throughout most of each day. That was until I uninstalled it to keep myself away from spending too much time on games. Later on, when I find a way to manage my time more wisely, I will definitely return to playing games.

By saying 0.5 as your average, are you telling me that you play games for less than an hour, on a scale of 0-10 hours? Also, if/when you played any games like Fallout, how much time did you usually spend on them?

When I still played console games, the last time that I did so, I probably spent around 1 hour each day. It's funny how I went from playing 1 hour to several hours. Hopefully, I can get back to spending only an hour, which seems reasonable enough for a person like me, who is currently busy with college.

When I played Fallout 3, like you, I dedicated large chunks of time to it until I finished it.  I think I logged somewhere around 53 hours and earned all 1000 gamer points.  However, that's a pretty atypical experience for me.

Since Modern Warfare 2, L4D2, and Bad Company 2 have come out, I usually play about 1 - 2 hours per night dating back to last November.  Prior to that it probably averaged less, down around the < 1 hour mark.  It really just depends.

With that being said, I'm definitely trying to keep it moderated.  BC2 is starting to wear on me, so I'm starting to care less about it.  But...the Halo: Reach beta starts in about 30+ days so I'm sure I'll be back to logging 1 - 2 hours a night with it.  We'll see.

yes, that too, but something to realize is that most of the games i play are indie games. and indie games are about half an hour long on average. i don't really play very many AAA games anymore, and haven't for the last 10 years or so. lately that's changing now that i have an xbox, but even with that i spend a lot of time playing xblig games, not the main console titles.

however, that wasn't my intent; i was providing daily estimates, now how long i spend on each individual game. i was saying that out of the average day, on average i spend 30 minutes a day playing games, and that it varies between spending 0 hours a day (a whole lot of days are like that) and 13 hours a day (when i'm really into a game).

Probably 1 hour. 2 tops. Don't play as much as I used to. Mostly watch movies/read blogs now.

i'll go up to 12 hours on the first day if i have the day off from school and work.

About 1 hour if I'm not obsessed with a specific game (current game obsessions: Tetris, Mega Man 6).

It depends, I go through these manic phases where all I do is play games, followed by long periods of not playing anything at all.  So it can go from 1-2 hours a week just testing out little games here and there to 6-12 hours a day spent on a single game.  Usually I'm not playing anything in particular though.

Right now I'm playing the first Call of Juarez, maybe 2-3 hours a day.  I would be playing more if the game wasn't so bad (the level design is horrible and the enemy AI swings between "retarded monkey" and "godlike omniscience" with no in-between).  I just want a decent old-west themed game *sigh* :(

From Monday to Friday I play 0-1h, including my PS3, indie games on my laptop or something in my iPod. But in the weekend I usually wake up much earlier than my wife, so I may play for two or three hours in a row before she wakes up.

Which is the reason why I don't play so much during the week: there's just one TV set at home :'(

Usually around an hour a day, unless I have the extra time and it's one of those games that keeps me hooked.  Examples of THOSE games would be Oboropghtbmhg:The Demon Blade :ninja:, Plant's vs Zombies, New Super Mario Bros.  Lately it's been a little Last Stand mode in Dawn of War 2.

Same here. Currently I'm in a particularly long lasting gaming break, since at least three months. But there were times when every single free hour went into games, and at times that might have been 12 or more hours a day.

I'm with deadeye and Hajo. I spent a week playing Mass Effect 2, and haven't really played anything since.

I spent like half an hour playing one of the Guitar Hero games today. I don't know which one. That was the first time I'd played a game in two months. I just don't really have time any more -- I'm too busy doing a variety of other things.

Usually 2 or 3 hours a day.  Though, on a day where I have nothing else to do, it could be up to 10 hours.  Or more.  It depends.

I'd say at least 8 hours a day, every day, since I was 3.  Sometimes it's less, but rarely.  And I make up for it by binging more often than not.  For example, I played a bunch of Commodore 64 homebrew titles last night.  Went on from about 6pm to 6am.  This is pretty normal for me.

Trust me, it adds up after 2+ decades.  However, it hasn't affected my ability to do my work.  I guess all that time I spend not watching TV adds up.  ;)

I wish I could play more, but I think I spend more time reading gaming sites/blogs/forums than actually playing  :-\

Probably 1-3 hours depending on how busy things are.  Nightly DoTA is really what sucks up the most time, although sometimes I like to play DS before bed.

DotA... <3 But I play HoN now. Because I got my friends some accounts and they like it a lot more.

I like wasting a couple of seconds (minutes if I'm lucky) playing Spelunky. I suck at the game so much and that's why I despise it.

I play probably around only 3-6 hours, and with different games, Flash games, etc. But when it's with a friend, probably 4-10 hours.

Probably about 20 minutes average. I pretty much only play arcade style games though. Occasionally I'll sink some time into a console game, when I feel like relaxing.

Actually I just realized that sitting on my computer browsing the internet endlessly =/= playing games (wow what a revelation), so I guess my time spent playing games is around 1~2 hours on weekdays and 2~6 hours during the weekend, which I guess is still a lot compared to some people.

For me it ranges between 0 and 4-5 hours. Probably a couple of hours on weekdays average, and maybe double that on weekends. My playing games time has grown recently for some reason. Getting little kings story in a couple of days so it will probably shoot up again. Just in time for the 4 day easter weekend :D

Same here, I play an hour or two every few days I'd say. I can't seem to be able to lose myself in a game for hours upon hours any more. Not sure whether this is a good thing or bad thing...

In a day? 0-8 hours, usually about and hour and a half.

I hardly invest that much playing nowadays. 2 hours per day tops.

3+ a day, mostly testing games I'm working on though. Random game playing + Getting together with friends: maybe 8-12 hours a week on average? I have been programming more and playing less, it's weird  :-X

It depends... my wife and I play WoW together, so 3-4 times a week we'll spend between 2-4 hours playing that.  On other days though, I usually don't spend more than an hour playing games.

Up until recently, I hadn't played a single console game in 6 months (damn you Resident Evil 5!). Plenty of indie games to check out.

But usually, I don't get a chance to play anything.  :-\

ill go for a few months playing twenty minutes to an hour a week, and then ill find some horrorshow game that gets me interested in playing again, play for  2-3 hours a day and remain at that rate until i get bored and neglect gaming for a few months again.

depends...if i start up pro evolution soccer or league of legends (the only games i play atm) it can go from hour to four. but i haven't played a lot, like one game of LoL this week for instance.

Not much, but it varies. Normally I go for 2 hours maximum per day, sometimes more, or even 8 hours, hardly, but that only happens if I'm out of my mind.

Playing too much gives me headaches, so that ain't good either.

Daily my time spent gaming can vary, but on the weekends and days off I tend to spend between 3 and 7 hours playing. In a week, I'll play for around 15-30 hours.

It's not really that much, but that's because I tend to play my games to death and become a social recluse whenever I get a new game, so there's very little to do after a while - don't expect to hear from me when Splinter Cell: Conviction gets released.

This should have a poll. I probably spend about 2-4 hours on average. I haven't been addicted to a game in the longest time so I usually spend 1-2 hours on average per game a day.
