Title: Thom Hartmann Post by: The_Flying_Dove on April 20, 2010, 09:40:55 AM I just wanted to mention how I enjoy listening to Thom Hartmann's radio station on Chicago's Progressive Talk, on 92.7 AM. His discussions on how many businesses make unethical decisions and how our US Constitution is at stake, with corporations having lots of support, especially with the Right Wing. Moreover, in a way, Obama has been supporting this way of corporatism, as Norman Goldmann puts it.
Maybe none of you have heard of any of these people, but I just thought that it would be interesting to mention. NOTE: This is not turning into another topic like the previous one that I created. It's whatever you want it to be, concerning business and politics. If you have yet to listen to or watch Thom Hartmann's talk show or radio show, try visiting these links: http://www.thomhartmann.com/ http://www.ustream.tv/thomhartmann#utm_campaigne=synclickback&source=http://www.thomhartmann.com/tv/watch&medium=2423500 He also has written some books (about things like psychological disorders, business, politics, etc.), which can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Thom-Hartmann/e/B000AQ449C/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1 Right now, Thom is discussing (based on my understanding): Are teabaggers, the media and people like Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin moving the country so far right that it's dangerous to democracy? http://www.ustream.tv/thomhartmann#utm_campaigne=synclickback&source=http://www.thomhartmann.com/tv/watch&medium=2423500 Title: Re: Thom Hartmann Post by: William Broom on April 20, 2010, 10:53:59 PM Teabaggers?
Title: Re: Thom Hartmann Post by: Falmil on April 21, 2010, 10:49:48 AM The Teabaggers are a group of conservatives in the US protesting against taxation and "big government". Unfortunately, they are woefully uninformed considering almost all of them only watch Fox News, so they'll complain about Obama raising taxes despite the fact that he lowered them, and they'll complain about all the tax money being taken while not acknowledging the fact that the taxes pay for services and things that they all use. They've named themselves after the Boston Tea Party protest without realizing that the name they're using is already the name of a sexual act, so you can see how much research they actually do.
Title: Re: Thom Hartmann Post by: Sam on April 21, 2010, 12:26:32 PM They don't generally refer to themselves as teabaggers. I'd hazard a guess that anyone calling them teabaggers is showing their distaste of the movement, and implicitly displaying a distaste for scrotum.
Quote from: Wikipedia The Tea Party movement is a populist United States protest movement that promotes fiscal conservatism. The movement emerged in 2009 through an ongoing series of Tea Party protests. These are partially in response to the 2009 stimulus package as well as the 2008 bailouts. In 2010 The Economist described the movement as "America's most vibrant political force." In general, the Tea Party movement supports constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility and free markets. More specifically, the movement is anti-stimulus, anti-deficit and anti-bailout. Some demonstrators have also opposed federal support for the ailing automobile industry. Isn't happening in my country, so I don't have much of an opinion. Title: Re: Thom Hartmann Post by: Renton on April 21, 2010, 10:50:39 PM They don't generally refer to themselves as teabaggers. I'm pretty sure I saw some of them carrying banners that referred to themselves as teabaggers during the protests.Title: Re: Thom Hartmann Post by: Movius on April 22, 2010, 02:18:13 AM Tyrone Rodriguez is behind all this from his base on the moon.
Title: Re: Thom Hartmann Post by: Falmil on April 22, 2010, 12:17:37 PM I'm pretty sure they were referring to themselves as Teabaggers for quite some time until enough people told them that it was a sexual term.
