Just from that logo I can tell this is going to be good. Reminds me of Ark22 for some reason. What will it be, a topdown scrolling shooter?

Yep, this game is a topdown shmup! The image you see in the logo is a silhouette of what is to come. ;)

Ooo, cryptic. Even if this game is just silhouttes the ships still have a strange lot of depth and detail. Exciting stuff to be sure. =]

Two souls, leaving the treasure behind for friendship.

Updated the first post. Sleeper 97 will support 2P 'arcade style' co-op, however, your online ranking will no longer count if a friend joins the game.

Stay tuned for more cryptic daily updates. The full graphics will be revealed next Monday.

@Inanimate: I'll apologize for this one, I had a bit of a rough week and tinkering with the sprites took longer than I thought.

@Squirrelsquid: I'm glad you like them, I'm a big fan of your work and it served as the large inspiration to begin this project.

yea, the orb/cockpit looked familiar ;3

nice solid shapes, realy - one thing I'm not sure though, is if it isn't a tad to big for playership? not sure how big the hitbox will be, but it might be a tad to big.

It's actually the first boss, and if you're wondering why it's so small for a boss, it's as I just said, it's going to be the first one, they do get bigger in each level.

Kramlack and I will be pounding at the finishing touches of the ships this weekend, and perhaps take a bit longer then expected to just make sure everything is in tip-top shape.

Yay! I remember seeing this back when I didn't have an account here, and I'm still looking forward to it. Good to see more, I'm liking the artwork!

I'm really liking the spriting here. Can't wait to see how this turns out. :handthumbsupL::)

I wanted to do a shmup a while back but was put off after not finding a simple but still nice looking graphical style which you guys have found. I'm curious to see how you go about the backgrounds, assuming it's not a space shooter. The problem I had with backgrounds is that if  you do them to the same degree of detail as the ships then it takes an absolute age to finish a level, but reducing the quality can make them a bit rubbish looking.
