Title: baggage Post by: BoxedLunch on June 06, 2010, 07:47:33 AM (http://images.cdn.gamejolt.com/games/2576/screenshots/2576_5213.jpg) your flight is taking off soon. better get your luggage in the baggage claim.controls: arrow keys. it's pretty short. play it for the graphics. http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/platformer/baggage/2576/ (http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/platformer/baggage/2576/) Title: Re: baggage Post by: CyanPrime on June 06, 2010, 09:11:10 AM Umm, Noooo. First you need to make the graphics not make me want to not play it. Try making the ground #222222 and #333333, and making the background a pale, or cyan-ish blue.
edit: (http://imgur.com/Pd54F.jpg) Look how much better it looks (ignore all the brokenness, that's cause it was a jpeg when I edited it. Save in .png, not .jpeg) Title: Re: baggage Post by: unsilentwill on June 06, 2010, 09:18:35 AM Disagree. All of the graphics are great, except the blob plane which doesn't really fit with the rest. Game is great too. I wanted to beat it badly, and now I kind of want to buy VVVVVV. Fun for what it is.
Title: Re: baggage Post by: Juniusrave on June 06, 2010, 09:26:53 AM A few things:
First off, I personally believe that the graphics are a bit too distracting; I can see you tried to be innovative or different, but when my eyes are confused as to what I'm looking at, it's no good. Full-screen is probably not a good idea for a default setting, not everyone likes that. Also, I don't know if it's due to the site you uploaded it on (I quick played the game personally, assuming it would be a more efficient way to play)or the way your developed it, but the game has some serious lag when it starts up. I would suggest looking into that. You have a good idea, just work on the kinks a bit. Title: Re: baggage Post by: dEnamed on June 07, 2010, 01:53:22 AM I'm having a problem with my eyes where too much movement at once causes several uncomfortable problems. I gave your game a try and while the movement felt right, I couldn't continue due to the aforementioned problem.
For me too potentially enjoy this game, it would need an option to calm down the screen a bit. Maybe an option to halt the frantic flickering (if there is, sorry, just quickplayed it). I also think the player character could use some more contrast against the background. I sometimes spent half a minute looking for the character. Otherwise, I really can't say that much about it at this stage. As I said, the movement feels right. Just the right amount of momentum and air control. Title: Re: baggage Post by: increpare on June 08, 2010, 04:32:20 AM Oh man I really like this game - aaah it's really disorienting and gorgeous.
Title: Re: baggage Post by: ஒழுக்கின்மை on June 08, 2010, 10:02:29 AM the game was a bit too hard for me, i had to give up due to the difficulty; i love the visuals but feel you can do more with them than a platformer and insta-death spikes (which has been done better by other games such as vvvvvv and so on). as an experiment with a visual style though this game is a success. i also don't like up being jump (rather than a key like z or something), it makes platformers much harder to control for me. that was also my biggest problem with radix's enough plumbers game.
Umm, Noooo. First you need to make the graphics not make me want to not play it. cyan, you're kind of a jerk even when you're giving constructive feedback. if you didn't even play the game, it's best not to criticize the screenshot. if you played the game you'd notice that it's a lot different than the screenshot, motion/movement makes a huge difference: the static staying still would make it hard to play, but because the static is in motion, it works well. Title: Re: baggage Post by: maxwell on June 09, 2010, 10:33:36 PM I liked it, the spike-hit effect/sound somehow made me flinch every time, it was really annoying but in sort of a good way?
Title: Re: baggage Post by: ElectricGrandpa on June 09, 2010, 10:33:51 PM Gotta admit that the screenshot doesn't really give it justice ;)
I liked the fog level a lot. The last level was pretty frustrating, but I got it eventually... Cool game, very stylish and bizarre. Oh man, the hit sound makes me so frustrating. Very short game, not really hard. I may have died 20 times. I love how the game fucks with your vision. |
