New Star Soccer (http://newstarsoccer.newstargames.com/) 3 & 2010. Both excellent games (NSS3 being 2d, NSS2010 3d) where you play as one player throughout his whole career (on and off the field). Featuring just about every league in the world and all the important parts of the game: kicking, tackling, racing horses, drinking so much beer you fall over randomly during the match.

For the many people on this forum who don't subscribe to any objective reality, Mdickie's Grass Roots (http://www.mdickie.com/downloads.htm) might be a more considered and appropriate treatment of the Association Football experience. A ball is involved and there are two goals...

in other news England is gonna thrash the us tonight

God, that sound is fucking annoying, I watched South Africa vs. Mexico yesterday and the goddamn bees didn't stop buzzing for one single second. Now Argentina is on and I'm considering watching it with the sound turned off.

Oh yeah, and my Portugal is going to kick Korea's ass, so don't get too excited. :wizard:

I have no idea about anything that is going on but I decided I'll watch all of England's games because I'm stuck in the arse end of nowhere without a good internet connection and only the TV to keep me company.

What makes that noise? I have not heard such a noise?

Well to be honest, it could go either way. Although America is crap compared to englands normal form, a lot of our best players are out of action or are off form.

Well my 3 predictions today were:

2-0 win to South Korea (achieved.)
Maradona will ruin everything (30 minutes for him to salvage defeat from a 1-0 lead.)
3-2 win to USA (TBA.)

Being a brazilian, football (or soccer) is part of my culture. Don't know how it's like in other countries, but over here, Brazil is playing in the world cup, the whole country stops to watch the match.

I'm usually not much into football, but during the World Cup, I always get caught up in the hype and watch every match I can.

I really enjoy hearing everyone complain about vuvuzelas.  :durr:

Clearly Australia will win. 1-0, Trollman in the 90th minute.

It's going to be 3-1 for Germany, their first goal about 10 minutes from now

Tim Cahill was unlucky to be sent off. The Germans are looking a pretty strong team though.

You have no idea how loud it was outside about 4 hours ago. Dozens of cars driving around, honking like crazy, drunk and less drunk people singing loudly and wrong, everyone tooting their vuvuzelas...

it's a joke. basically everyone (brits especially) were boasting that england was going to toast us, 3-1, 5-0, wayne rooney would be an unstoppable force of nature, american (soccer) football is garbage etc.

by playing a tie game we've effectively told the world to fuck off, even if we had a little help from american loyalist Robert Green.

So glad I didn't get up at 4am to watch the Australia match

I'm much like that too, though I don't really watch as much as I can, but definitely more than usually (0). As much as I'd like to (and used to) be cynical about it, there's something exciting about the whole atmosphere surrounding that world cup business that's hard to shake off.

And I have to say the Germans played quite beautifully, that win was deserved.  4-0 is painful though...

The German match was the first of this world cup I haven't seen. Sigh.

Man am I glad I'm a geek and not a football fanatic (like the rest of my family is, I will never get it...)
