I hope to be.  I've participated in 3, though the third one was very weak, and the last few times I've neglected entering.

99% sure I am, I'm done with finals on Wednesday, and moving back home that night, so I'll only have a couple days to prepare, but I've done it the last 3 times now and it's been a blast every time...

I'll be there, hope I make a better game than last time. :)

I'm probably going to do it if the theme is good--winter break starts for me next week, so the timing is perfect.

Definitely in for the compo as long as I can do something with the theme, possibly up for jamming too.

I'm hoping to writing a rougelike of some sort, but I'm definitely planning on giving my WIP BlitzMax ASCII graphics engine a whirl. Making a game with it will definitely give me a good idea of what features are missing.

I'll hopefully be joining, probably doing the jam because of time constraints. Hope the theme's good, everyone seems to down-vote the vague ones i like and up up-vote the really specific ones...

I was going too, but unfortunately I'm gonna be busy the upcoming weekend. Best of luck to you guys!

Oh, don't say that. There's no way you could possibly achieve that much.

me. wanna fight about it?

roughly 3 hours left for voting. not really happy with the final round voting for themes. text input action game sounds fun but I could see how many games would be too similar. game based on a year is another one I up-voted and I hope it wins. so much potential.

I'm hoping for Depth or Don't Die, both of them give me a lot of interesting ideas.

I'm hoping for one of the more open ones like Discovery, Evolution or Seeds.
(Though given Evolution's track record i doubt that will win).

Discovery sounds a bit too much like exploration (LD16) for my tastes...

I'm hoping on that one too, though my idea is probably stupid and impossible within the 2 days...

I'm sure I had an idea for evolution previously, but I have no idea what it was! (So I hope it wins when I remember. )

I like Discovery as a theme - it's a bit like Exploration, sure, but I think it's got a lot more potential for interesting games.

So, the theme is Discovery! I might get something out.

Bah, this is a bit too vague for my liking.

At least it's not text input action game, though  :wtf:

Ug, ready to get working this morning and I still don't have any idea for what to do.  I made a base code last night, but I've reached a point where I need to know what I'm doing to proceed....

I was kind of excited to enter this one since I finially had time this weekend. Then I saw the topic and it kind of ruined it for me. There are so many games that come out about discovery/exploration that it doesn't seem that much fun of a topic to me. It also doesn't impose much of a restriction because you can pretty much lump any game that has new areas or some sort of graphical change throughout the game into the discovery catagory.

That just makes it more challenging, because you have to be creative to stand out.

In other news, this is what i've got so far.

So far, it's really good, madk! :)  I assume the ending is not there yet -- I got to a room where I couldn't do anything but talk to one guy and then quit.  Love the style though.  Are you using melly's ascii art program?

Well, apparently this weekend wasn't as busy as I thought. Go figure.

So yeah, I finished a short game for this. Check it out:

And I'd like to mention that Notch's entry looks freakin insane so far. That guy has so much talent.

Thanks!

The content isn't all in yet, no, and I'm actually using my own ASCII paint program. I would have used Melly's except I needed to be able to use custom pallets and save it in my own engine's specialized format.

Well, I had an 8 hour power outage, and 16 hour internet outage after that, but I finished something resembling a game:

Hmm, it gets to a point where gordon leaves me in a room to investigate with nothing in it, and then I can't do anything.  If I go to the bottom of the screen gordon (who is offscreen?) says something about going to investigate a gang next, but nothing happens.

My game is here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-19/?action=preview&uid=2397
It's a very silly game, but also very entertaining until the reversed difficulty curve gets tiring.

It was interesting enough for me to actually follow "the plot". Though, I didn't encouter any challange yet, only gathered clues. I think I reached the end of this alpha\demo, I reached the point where I couldn't go on.
The visuals are very interesting.

Shooot

Yeah, that needs fixing.

I can fix that, right? You can't even get to the ending because of it.

I got 4600 points, then I ran to the right until I got an exception access violation. The level before that happened seem to not have any creature.
Awesome game overall. It's probably more like a prototype, but it has great potential(adding features and elaborating on this idea).

I missed most of LD because I was busy with other things, but I squeezed out an entry anyways. Just like with my Exploration entry, I didn't have time to play test it and tweak things like movement speeds, detection radius growth, populations, etc. It's a bit slow and pretty frustrating.

http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/author/arne/

When I actually played it this morning, I very nearly got to level 6, which can be considered the final level, even though there's no ending.

I don't have time to update it right now. I wanted to do some title screen art and arcade style borders, but spent the last moments adding sound instead. The sprites needs some work too.

My entry, Case Closed (http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-19/?uid=1540) scored #9 in graphics and #28 overall!

Theme - #18
Coolness - #19 (which is sad considering I didn't rate that many games)
Community - #28
Innovation - #31
Humor - #32
Fun - #36

Whoo! My entry Aquatic (http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-19/?uid=1503) got 2nd in graphics, 5th in theme, 10th overall, 10th community and 14th in innovation! (and 29th in fun, and 48th in audio and 106th in humor...).

Though I think my download links just died thanks to an expired domain... I'll go fix that now... EDIT: done, luckily I just set up a domain/hosting this morning (the one I used before was a friend's)...
