Title: Free sprites? Post by: by MSLF on April 04, 2011, 07:32:46 AM Anybody's here aware of where one can get some free-to-use sprites for a 2d shooter? - one where you control a humanoidal character, not spaceships etc.

Post by: motorherp on April 04, 2011, 11:22:28 AM There's a few free shmup sprites spinkled around in the resources section at my website -> Shmup-Dev (http://www.shmup-dev.com/forum/index.php). There's not all that many though and you'll have to dig to find them. We've tried encouraging sprite donations for a while but there's no reason for people to give large amounts of good quality sprites away for free like that so chances are you'll have to either pay someone or find an artist to collaborate with.

Failing that, Klik and Play is available as a free download these days, and whilst the software itself could be fairly described as "hopelessly archaic", I distinctly remember the copy I had as a young'un coming with buckets of copyright-free sprites.
