Title: BloodBinder (2D action adventure)
Post by: IceGlyph on June 08, 2011, 06:36:44 PM
Hi all,

This is the devlog for Bloodbinder. Bloodbinder is a fast-paced action/adventure game which I expect to release early Q4 this year for the PC and soon after for the XBox360.

Technical:
The game is currently written in C++ using Direct3D. I am now also working on a release for the XBox 360.

Story:
In BloodBinder you play as one of the mighty Ust'Risi warriors, former protectors of the Blood Relic and also known as "Blood Relic Guardians". Surviving a murderous betrayal from within designed to steal the Blood Relic - you embark on a dangerous journey to protect the mighty artefact.

Gameplay:

The combat system is centered around the Blood Relic which must be protected and strategically positionned at all time.

When the player carries the blood relic he gets a magical shield which reduces all damage taken by 50%, however he cannot attack. Additionally, if the blood relic is within a certain range of a kill it absorbs the blood of the dead ennemy. When enough blood is gathered, the player can consume it and get a permanent power increase.

If the blood relic get stolen, the ennemy is flagged as priority kill (red arrow) and must be stopped at all cost.

Ust'Cha Tribe:

Ust'Cha sorcerers are some of the most powerful creatures in Bloodbinder. Ough'az the necromancer is their leader.

Ust'Risi Tribe:

The Ust'Risi used to be a powerful clan however since the betrayal it has weakened and divided into several groups.

An initial attempt at refining the spell effects. I have added more definition, an animation and more distinctive colors.

This looks very interesting! I'll keep my eye on this one for a while! The graphics seem pretty beautifull, the effects are stunning so far, and the programming looks fluid and fast paced!

Any ideas on the pricing yet?

Thanks for the comment.

For the pricing I have not yet decided and would be happy to get any advice/information. From what I have read there are 2 opposite trends for indie games and currently, portals seem to be driving the standard toward low-pricing.

I am planning for the game to have 11 levels for the main story and a challenge mode. No multiplayer mode planned for the initial version (although I try to keep that in mind while coding/designing in case things change).

I will try to release an alpha demo as soon as possible so hopefully with additional feedback and suggestions I will get a clearer idea on the final content and pricing till release.
