Title: Delicious WTF moments in games.
Post by: filosofiamanga on June 09, 2011, 12:51:56 PM
Hello people, I wonder one thing:

Which moment in a game you though... WTF?  :o :o

I doen't matter if it's a flaw in the story logic or a funny bug, or a WTF moment.

Also post interesting WTF gaming videos of youtube, I would love to see them.

I can't remember many now... but when Kefka destroyed the world in FF 6 I was... WTF?!, IT WAS AWESOME.  >:D >:D >:D >:D

Also, to discover Leona shrinks when making low kick in Kof 2002, just when a Rugal player make the B/D super, and to win in that moment, It was WTF, awesome!.  8)

Also GTA vice city is a nice source of WTF moments, like the cheat code that make cars fly.

In cave story, when Curly drowns

I had little foreknowledge of any of the game the first time I played through, so this came as a huge shock for me when it happened, and not knowing that I could do anything about it.

Portal 2. The entire ending.

In Silent Hill Shattered Memories, when you find out the father has actually been dead the whole time and you're just playing through his daughters memories/fantasies.

I actually dropped the controller in a wtf stare.

First time I encountered angels in IVAN. I was missing a leg so I prayed on an altar, summoning multiple angels sent to kill me. Instead of killing me outright they cut off my limbs one by one. I then tried to roll away, just a rolling head and torso, bleeding profusely all the while. They seemed to stop for a turn before watching me resign to my fate, before decapitating me with one swing of the sword.

Well there are entire games which have a certain "wtf?" about them.
Games like, "You are empty". They're great Let's Play Material though, really hilarious.

Also the first time a wall was puking/shitting all over my Avatar in Prey was pretty much a wtf moment.

When I first played Planescape: Torment and I realised that characters games could be more important to me than any character from a book or film.  I really lost myself in that game.

I was playing Deus Ex earlier today and saw a cat eating someone's corpse and making little spurts of blood appear. It was disturbing to say the least. Needless to say I put a bullet in that poor disturbed starving cat's brain and put it out of its misery.

You know Zelda: Spirit Tracks? There's these fat, purple S&M guys with whips in one dungeon. You have to whip them back with a snake.

nothing really surprises me in games anymore, i've played too many of them to get any wt* moments from them. at most i'd find such moments mildly amusing, but nothing feels terribly strange anymore

i think the last one was probably action 52 (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/angry-video-screwattack/65116) -- not the games themselves or their lack of quality, that part wasn't too surprising -- but rather that the game managed to sell so well. it sold around 100,000 copies, and was successful enough to get snes and genesis ports, even though it sold for $199 a copy. it's bizarre that a game that bad -- so bad it's the standard-bearer for bad games today -- sold as well as it did. i imagine it ruined many kids' christmas or birthdays. it's the final example of how marketing matters more than quality

Such a beautiful game. Just couldn't stop playing the thing.

Oh, and...
the entirety of killer7; especially the end.

I would say:
FUUUUUUCK, WTF????!!!!

Good stuff.
It's on Gamecube as well, and I'd highly recommend that version over the PS2 port. Better framerate and much faster loading times.

A couple of moments I remember being kinda wtf in Rise of the Triad.. firstly when an dismembered eyeball flew past after killing one of the guards.. and secondly when I first got to use the hand of god power-up.

I remember playing that on a emulator in a NES roms pack, I was confused by seeing so many games, I just played the platform with the girl shooting those ghost.
After seeing the video now I see why I didn't remember that game, It's really bad (compared to jewels of the NES day like Nintendo games).

But maybe we found something really interesting in this thread like when I watched Panty and Stockings:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU2lhHjOlAg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU2lhHjOlAg)
Seriously, WTF?! (even if it's not game related).

The ending of Digital Devil Saga 2 and finding the person behind the true ending in Persona 4.

Finding the weakpoint of Kristoph Gavin in Phoenix Wright: Apollo Justice.

The final boss of Mass Effect 2. (more of a funny WTF, though)

Fighting Letz Shake in No More Heroes, and the final boss of No More Heroes 2.

I'm late to this thread, but a world of this. That was one of the best moments in any game I've ever played. Totally didn't see it coming at all. That whole game was pretty freaking fantastic. Definitely my favorite game on the Wii. I should play it again.

i just got alice:madness returns today and i found out that rather than coming with a physical manual you can read with the game, it puts it on the main menu of the game. that's okay, it's not like i wanted to read it while playing or anything. ???

It was published by EA, and EA is stopping/has stopped including physical manuals with their games.

In Mass Effect 2, I often find myself floating two Shepperds high into the air.  I am unable to come back down, I just float up and have to reset.  Happened three times.

This happened to me on Lair of the Shadow Broker. I was just walking along then suddenly I float up into the ceiling, completely stuck. My last save was before I had even started the mission, and I was close to the end of it >:(
