Title: James McCloud's Forum Adventure! Post by: James McCloud on July 04, 2011, 10:54:52 PM Hello everyone. You guys know MSPaintAdventures? I'd like to do something a little bit like that, only instead of pictures, I'll use words!
I know it's a dying medium, but bear with me here. I don't have all the details of the story. From you all, I'd like: A setting A character name And any other details about the main character (History, pets, etc.) When I get all of these, then the story can begin! In case you're not familiar with MSPA, here's how it works! You give the protagonist commands based on what has happened, and (if possible) I'll write what happens based on it! Now start posting! Title: Re: James McCloud's Forum Adventure! Post by: Painting on July 05, 2011, 01:30:29 AM Setting: Ancient Egypt. A solitary hippopotamus groans over the beautiful waters of the Nile. In the air, a painful, enigmatic nerve gas is slowly spreading. The townspeople are fleeing in random directions, their cool Egyptian skin blistering. The past has been invaded by aliens.

I don't understand. Is the hippo the Protagonist? Cause I can totally do that. Title: Re: James McCloud's Forum Adventure! Post by: Painting on July 05, 2011, 02:26:18 PM I was expecting other people to fill in the other bits.
But I guess it's up to me. Main character's a young palm tree on the Nile, growing close to the attacked city. It wants nothing more in life than to grow peacefully and full of nutrients. It's not happening. Her hobbies include photosynthesizing and extending her roots. She is resilient and tough. Her parents are still alive, but live far enough away that she must fend for herself, like most trees. Title: Re: James McCloud's Forum Adventure! Ahhh. Another peaceful day in Egypt as a palm tree. Just enough water, sitting here on the Nile. What more could you ask for. Well, you don't really know how to ask anyway, because you aren't sentient. Wait. You feel funny. You're shrinking. You're thinking. You feel scared. This doesn't feel right. You want to run, but you're rooted to the ground. Wait, no you’re not. What are these, are these legs? You’re moving. You’re running away. Away from the strange beam that made you this way. You hear screaming, but you’re not about to go back. You look down at yourself. You’re still a tree. But you look different. You look like those people you’ve seen all your life. The ones that built those strange structures. Extravagant tombs built for their kings. You never understood such petty want. But now you do. You can think. Before, you could only grow where you landed as a seed. But now you can decide what to do. You’re in control of how you live your life. You stop, realizing that you’ve been running all this time. You can’t even see the pyramids anymore. You don’t know where you came from. You begin to think of all of the people in the village. The children that played with you. Not all of them are petty. You can’t just let them die. But you don’t know what you can do to save them. You are a humanoid palm tree. You’re in the middle of the desert. You want to save your people. What will you do? |
