Shit, it WAS on sale for 75% off earlier today, now it's at 50%, so $5... Still worth it, even at it's full price.

Bought a four pack after the price was ninja'd up.

Another douchey thing to associate with Terraria, I guess.  I'll just add it to the stack. 

portal 2 is also on sale for 25$ -- if anyone has played it, is it basically the same as portal (linear puzzles with mostly a single intended solution) or did they do something different?

Basically, yes. It also has railroaded "cinematic" sections that basically serve as elaborate cutscenes, and for a while it becomes a hidden object "look around with zoom feature and find the white wall" game before reverting back to actual puzzles. Challenge is slightly increased but still nothing compared to the best and most creative fanmods that came out for the original Portal (e.g. Portal: Prelude). On the good side the writing is decent and the atmosphere is pretty nice, and there are plenty of easter eggs and little secrets to find if you explore in some parts (thanks to the game not being 100% test chambers this time, and also having a huger world). Still not too much room for "play" though =P

On the topic of Terraria: lol.

I bought Portal 2 & Dead Space 2 today for $40. I was going to wait for Portal 2 to drop to $20 or below, because I know that the first one felt really linear and pretty overrated, but these Steam sales are hard to resist. Dunno why people are hating on Terraria, though, it's much better than most of the other stuff I've seen come out of the indie game community.

I played portal 2 for about half an hour but got bored, the puzzles are basically the same as the first, except theres more walk around do nothing cutscenes. It's probably yet another game where you have to wait till the end of the game before the fun starts to happen.

Come to Noisebridge tomorrow and I'll tell you how I might be planning to make a Terraria-beater. "Might" because the design of this thing keeps changing on me.

Looking forward to hearing that. I think Terraria is 90% crap with no talent behind it though (the other 10% being essentially Minecraft inspiration), so you won't have a hard time convincing me.

bouhgt it and played it with a friend on lan for a few hours last night, the combat in the game is really unsatisfying but exploring was well fun.

Not the greatest game ever like some people seem to think but it was well worth 1$ an hour for me. I haven't played after any updates because I want them to build up so there can be double the content next time I play :)

I did send a few copies of Aquaria to some friends since it was so damn cheap this weekend. For as many games as I bought, I think I only spent like, 30 bucks in total even considering all the gift games I sent out. Waiting to buy games until after the price plummets turned out to be a good idea.

 I wasn't begging, I was saying please and only asked twice. I only asked as I do not prefer to pirate. Plus, I heard the game was so good. Must try.

I bought Terraria too, I dont like platform games, but i bought it because it was so cheap, I was very surprised on how fun this game actually is!, very surprised, its basically a coop game, where you explore and try get stronger and find stronger bossess, its very fun and satisfying playing it with others.

I'm really enjoying it. I got in while it was still 2.50.

I was about to buy it when it was 2.50$ but didn't and later noticed it was 5$ and thought it lame. I'd like to try out the game to see if it is worth of the hype but right now I'm not inclined to actually buy it even if it is relatively cheap.

Got it back when it was full price, it's pretty great. It's still five dollars for about an hour -- maybe team up with friends and get a four pack.

The coop is pretty good, you know.

five dollars is the price of a terrible book or a broken plastic sword. don't get all skinflint on matters like this.

It's worth the full price, IMO. The $2.50 was a mistake on Steam's behalf, and to even get it on sale for $5 was a total steal.

I'm not even gonna argue about it, because what's the point? That's the great thing about it, isn't it? No matter what they say, it will sound like an excuse or stubbornness. Not because they did something wrong, no simply because someone else put the blame on them. Doesn't even matter what that something is, because it's something they did. Seriously, I'm getting tired of this, there's no need for even more elitist bullshit so just stop it please.

to clarify, it wasn't the price but how it suddenly rose which to me felt a bit unfair, to promise something with low price for day, and then rise it again before day end. Though 5e isn't that much more I nevertheless felt bit cheated and I simply lost my will to buy. And to begin with I wasn't sure if I'd want whole game so that was the 'last straw' which made me to make my decision.

Note, the price was never meant to be 2.50. It was an error on Steam's part.

I learned it later here and I understand it. But whatever the cause was it affected to my final decision and sale was over. And to be honest I don't really need the game right now since I have other games to play I just bought :) But enough about that, just wanted to clarify my position since it indeed might sound first like the usual kids in Steam complaining about too high prices for lame indie games etc.

And btw, I usually buy the games I really like/want with full price and preferably from author's website. Terraria simply isn't one of them by what I right now know about it.

Your position won't be clarified and damages won't be compensated until you buy 50 more copies of terraria, and show your support to small cooperatives by buying 15 copies of immortal defense. Thank you :gentleman:
