Title: Awesome Man Post by: jimmynewguy on July 27, 2011, 09:28:25 AM Hi everybody! I'm new here and just recently finished a short, minimalistic fighting platformer using Game-Editor. I thought I might post it here to get some more feedback.
It's called Awesome Man, and it doesn't really have too much of a story line 8) (http://game-editor.com/forum/download/file.php?id=8145&mode=view) Basically, it's a run and gun if your fists/feet were the guns. consider saying hello in this thread (http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=45.0) before jumping in and showing us your game. i really like tha games art style, it is simple and to the point, the music too was good, it's only short one incredible widdly guitar solo and it could be from doom (easier said than done, i know :) ) the jumping seems a little too floaty compared to the horizontal movement (which seemed a good speed for the game) and some of the platforming sections relied a bit too much of 'getting it just right' but I did enjoy the fighting. The dude's jump kick seemed way more powerful than his standing attack, possibly because you get multiple hits in as you fly through the air, maybe if the standing attack knocked the enemy back to compensate it would be more of an option. I think the boss needs too many hits to defeat, if that was toned down a bit (still have him speed up as much as he does, that is a good way to allow people to figure it out before you get punishing :handthumbsupL:) it may make him less frustrating. Is there a difference between red-shirts and blue-shirts? they seemed to behave the same and I didn't notice one outlasting the other. Title: Re: Awesome Man Post by: jimmynewguy on July 27, 2011, 12:26:47 PM Oops, I'll get on introducing myself.
I've been attempting to make games for a while and this is my first "complete" game, so I don't have all the tweaking down to a science. But your reply definitely helps me figure some of that out. I'm a platformer freak and should of took that into consideration in the jumps and stuff, they're also easier when you play it 900 times through. Glad you liked the art and music though, that's usually where I tend to lack any skill what-so-ever. They were supposed to be ties instead of shirts...but it's pretty hard to get the point across small 3 color sprites. The blue ones moved faster and had a little less health is all. The game seems pretty lacking since it was mostly, to me, a prototype for a way longer, way more action, and way more moves ect. sequel. I'll see how long it takes to get around to that though. Thanks a lot, and a good day to you sir :gentleman: Title: Re: Awesome Man Post by: kidchameleon on July 29, 2011, 01:03:45 PM I really like this game! Did you make the music yourself? I like the gameplay, the character is a joy to control. The combat is satisfying. I really like the graphics too! Best game on here in a while IMHO. :)
Title: Re: Awesome Man Post by: jimmynewguy on September 10, 2011, 09:36:35 AM Oops, completely didn't see someone else commented on this... Well thanks, if it means anything now! You sometimes forget to look back on what happened while you were gone if you leave home for a while.
I did make the music myself, I made all of everything you see/hear and I'm glad you like it :) Oh, and if you like this as much as you say you do, maybe check out a proof of concept demo for my second game that I'll actually finish? http://game-editor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10992 |
