Title: Ned computat help peese Post by: Inane on June 26, 2008, 11:35:01 PM Okay, so I went to plug in my USB drive, unplugged external CD drive to do so, and I stick it in there, y'know, and it doesn't do anything. Doesn't do that 'new hardware' beep, nothin'. So then, I unplug my printer/scanner, put the USB drive in there, nothin'. So then I switch my mouse with the USB disk. Mouse works but same reaction to the USB drive.
And this is the part that confuses me: When I plug my scanner and cd drive back in, neither does anything, same as the USB disk. Anybody got any idea what's wrong here ???? (On Windows XP by the way) Title: Re: Ned computat help peese Post by: Arne on June 27, 2008, 01:10:21 AM I can't help you much, but:
I've had recognition problems when using a different port. Then XP wants to install 'new' drivers. Try using the same port you used when installing the thing? I've heard that one should wait half a minute when swapping so the OS has time to react. Maybe you swapped really fast? Or plugging EVERYTHING in your USB ports out, reboot, and try to plug in everything one by one again. And wait till one is fully recognized before you try the next. Other than that, I can't really help you either, though :/ Title: Re: Ned computat help peese Post by: shinygerbil on June 27, 2008, 03:28:29 AM Have you tried going through the Add Hardware wizard from the Control Panel?
Not that it'll help much if it doesn't work. . . |
