Title: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: C.D Buckmaster on April 06, 2012, 02:39:49 AM Basically exactly what the title says, it will only be free for another day or so, though. Mods, feel free to close this topic if you feel it doesn't need to exist.

Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: Dragonmaw on April 06, 2012, 10:01:51 AM I would suggest everyone get this, as Fallout is one of the games we might do for Game Club
Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: Alevice on April 06, 2012, 10:28:05 AM Yes indeed. Fallout is the only game worth owning no matter what.

Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: BlueSweatshirt on April 06, 2012, 01:31:20 PM it is an abbreviation
Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: iffi on April 06, 2012, 01:57:51 PM It was an acronym for Good Old Games, until they (recently) changed the name to just GoG.
I suppose there really isn't any reason not to get this deal. We can download and install the game later, after the deal ends, right? Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: C.A. Silbereisen on April 06, 2012, 02:25:04 PM I think so, yeah. Also it's worth noting that GoG doesn't use DRM if you're apprehensive about that.
Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: leonelc29 on April 07, 2012, 10:23:53 PM i like that gog's game come with a bunch of extra and manual, while steam doesn't. also, some game are cheaper.
Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: deathtotheweird on April 07, 2012, 10:34:09 PM yeah, the extras are always nice. but the main reason I buy stuff from GOG is the fact all games are pre-patched or pre-configured to work with dosbox or whatever. any game, no matter how old, you just install and play.
as long as you add the game to your library or you get the confirmation email, it will be in there forever. I think they have 7 games for free now, and they've given at least 5 away free over the years. and all of those are still in my games library thing. Although for both games I got from gog, I had to find patches from other sources to get to run properly on my computer. I'm sure they do the best they reasonably can but it's no guarantee.Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: C.A. Silbereisen on April 08, 2012, 12:53:40 AM yeah but those patches are unofficial. im pretty sure gog can't include them in their releases for legal reasons. :ninja:

I'm sure they do the best they reasonably can but it's no guarantee. huh, weird. I guess they all can't be winners. though so far with around 20 games I've gotten from GOG all of them have worked fine. guess I'm just lucky, or you're just unlucky. Title: Re: Original Fallout available for free on GoG Post by: Yougiedeggs on April 08, 2012, 01:47:01 PM I've had poor luck with a couple of games.
Fallout Tactics lags to the point it's no fun, and Jagged Alliance 2 crashes in the same spot five minutes in. Haven't tried the 1.13 fan patch for JA2. |
