It's like they made this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VsdKesdaKs&feature=related) into a game. Incredible. Very techy, currently lacking in a cohesive design both visually and gameplay-wise, but that's alpha for you. High hopes, it's look incredible. Elements of FPS, RTS, Minecraft, Day Z (multiplayer procedural survival and persistent characters) and still looks like it's own thing rather than a clone. Combining/ignoring genre. Wow. Oh and the Free to Play this is a bad sign. Hopefully they mean expansions, and not DLC... eh, it's still a terrible idea. Let us buy your product. Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Alevice on May 31, 2012, 09:57:31 AM [img] huh? Also, just saw the news on RPS and holy shit. It looks lovely. And I think everyone thought fucking SCBW intro. Not taht thats a a bad thing. Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Alevice on May 31, 2012, 10:04:54 AM ur specs bro?
Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Manuel Magalhães on May 31, 2012, 10:59:36 AM I've tried and this game seriously needs some optimization. I can easily run a game like Hard Reset at max specs and res in a reasonable speed, but even at 800x600 and the lowest spec possible I get below 30fps. It's a nice concept and the game looks nice in max settings, but I hope they make it faster.
(oh, and the initial loading time is about a minute or two for me) Warning - while you were typing 3 new replies have been posted. You may wish to review your post. @mooosh on the same boat here. I'll give my specs as well. 4GB RAM Nvidia GT 320M i5 2.27 GHz Windows 7 64bit Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: C.A. Silbereisen on May 31, 2012, 11:05:18 AM so this is basically halo + stalker + minecraft?
sounds good Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Dragonmaw on May 31, 2012, 11:14:05 AM it's got some pretty hilarious physics
Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: deathtotheweird on May 31, 2012, 02:00:24 PM it appears to be using Crytek's engine, so yeah not surprised it's not going to run well on a lot of machines. probably not going to bother downloading it, Crysis 2 didn't run so well on my (quite old) pc.
looks nice though. Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Manuel Magalhães on May 31, 2012, 02:07:41 PM It was made in Unity, not CryEngine. (since the .exe icon is the Unity square and the options' popup is the one found in most Unity games)
Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Sakar on May 31, 2012, 03:16:57 PM So someone beat me to my dream game that I've wanted to make since I was in 7th grade. Not sure if I should be happy or sad
Also the fact this was made in Unity is awesome Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: deathtotheweird on May 31, 2012, 03:31:45 PM oh, the HUD and Guns looked like they came from Crysis. oops.
it's just the 0.1 release hopefully they'll optimize it Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Medevenx on May 31, 2012, 08:49:15 PM omg and this is freeware
even minecraft wasn't freeware! EDIT: it won't work lol Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Blademasterbobo on June 01, 2012, 01:32:23 AM Nvidia GT 320M maybe don't play it on a netbook? Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: Manuel Magalhães on June 01, 2012, 09:01:20 AM My PC isn't a netbook imo (not high end, but it's not a netbook either). I just don't think there's anything on that game that should make my computer lag, specially when playing it at lowest specs possible and at 800x600.

the search function is your best friend Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: J-Snake on November 01, 2012, 02:17:08 PM Strange, the search-function hasn't provided any results.
Title: Re: StarForge - First Playable Release Post by: J-Snake on November 01, 2012, 02:36:34 PM it (the beta) is in deep fucking need of optimization Have fun optimizing a fully dynamic open world system. The graphics card won't do much for you except they made their algorithms run on it.it's completely unplayable on my computer at the fastest graphics setting I saw somewhere that that was what they're working on right now, tho |
