Title: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Player Ʒ on June 22, 2012, 07:18:46 AM There's already talk about it.
http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct/archive/06-21-2012/message So there's NAMCO-BANDAI collaboration, too? Cross-platform (Wii U/3DS), rumor has it? Let's get things excited! Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: shig on June 22, 2012, 07:51:28 AM Sakurai is still on it. It's gonna be disappointing.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Bandages on June 22, 2012, 02:01:27 PM Super smash bros 64 is one of my favorite games of all time to play with friends
Melee and Brawl are boring Not holding my breath Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: JWK5 on June 22, 2012, 02:14:37 PM I liked them all, mostly for the single player events and stuff. The multiplayer seems to always gets boring for me after so long, though. For some reason it just doesn't as well for me as Street Fighter styled fighting games do.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: --- on June 22, 2012, 02:55:34 PM Namco/Bandai makes the dragonball z games... will i be able to play as Goku????

Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Landshark RAWR on June 22, 2012, 03:44:57 PM it would be cool if they added vaporeon as she appeared in super smash land
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: man of doom on June 22, 2012, 03:45:58 PM I do hope it's better than Brawl. Such bland level design and too many boring characters.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: The Monster King on June 22, 2012, 05:17:45 PM it would be cool if they added vaporeon as she how do you know its a girl did you sniff its lady parts yeah i thought sakurai made a new studio exactly to get out of this, guess nintendo owns his soul namco bandai arent exactly the best at fighting and action games either Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Trevor Dunbar on June 22, 2012, 05:57:29 PM (http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080529224145/megaman/images/b/ba/MegamanSprite.gif)? Mega Man is dead...And this is NAMCO developing this, not Capcom. (even though Capcom and Namco are on really good relations...Hmmm.) Capcom is even actively trying to kill Mega Man off because of petty Japanese corporate politics. They want to give a giant middle finger to Keiji Inafune (Megaman's creator) because he left with a poor relationship with the higher-ups still sitting on the table. He left because he was sick of getting the bullwhip and slaving away for Capcom with no real bonuses or incentives for helping create great games. This is like what would happen if Nintendo did not give Miyamoto the respect, resources, and pay he deserves. How is Capcom trying to off Mega man? Let's see: Canceled MML3 under the guise that it was the francise's fan's fault, put a mocking parody of Mega Man in Capcom X Tekken, canceled Megaman online, have no plans for ANY new Mega Man games, and they silently refused to put Mega Man in MvC3. So, who loses when Capcom tries to "get back" at Inafune by dumping Mega Man altogether? Only fans of Mega Man. Annnnyyywaaayyyss... You can probably look forward to seeing a few tekken characters or Pac-man in the new Smash bros though. Pac-man is HIGHLY likely since Nintendo has worked with Namco in the past with the arcade MarioKart games (which included Pac-man and the ghosts.) You can probably bet Solid Snake is also going to return. I think Namco still makes decent games, not as good as they did with Tekken 3 or the original SoulCalibur or Tekken Tag 1, but still decent. I'm looking forward to what this game is going to be like and pick it up along with Tekken Tag 2. They better bring Mewtwo back- he was my favorite character with his super crazy damaging charge-up physic ball. His movelist was fantastic. If not, just keep using Falco. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Morroque on June 22, 2012, 07:02:08 PM Quote In order to make Mr. Sakurai proud, we will take on this project with NAMCO BANDAI's best staff! ... the art director/sound director of the "SoulCalibur" series, … and that's just for starters. After understanding that giving Samus to Team Ninja wasn't the best idea, Nintendo hopes Namco can remove any dignity she has left? Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: C.D Buckmaster on June 22, 2012, 09:42:43 PM I hope (but doubt) Suda51's wish will be granted and Travis Touchdown will be made a playable character.
I want to German suplex Kirby. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: shig on June 23, 2012, 01:46:12 AM everytime you land a punch on someone, there is a random chance your character breaks his fingers
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: JoGribbs on June 23, 2012, 02:22:20 AM Game Arts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Arts) of all people made Brawl so yeah.

If only Justin from Grandia had been in it :( or maybe some Lunar characters? Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: C.A. U Post by: Manuel Magalhães on June 23, 2012, 02:43:32 AM While it's not "pure" Mega Man, I'd love to play a true successor to the Zero series. There's the ZX series, but they didn't felt as great to play. :(
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: revolutionika on June 23, 2012, 08:58:48 PM Have they even announced this game? I hope it comes out at leaset in the first year of the wiiU.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Irock on June 23, 2012, 09:07:56 PM Have they even announced this game? I hope it comes out at leaset in the first year of the wiiU. Iwata mentioned it at E3 2011 and the first post in this thread links to information about it on the official Nintendo website. So no, they haven't announced it. I don't know where anyone would get that idea.Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Graham- on June 24, 2012, 05:08:15 AM Boy did I hate Brawl with a wii-mote. It was like race-car driving without a car.
I`m really curious how the tablet controller is to hold. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. If only Justin from Grandia had been in it :( or maybe some Lunar characters? If Thexder was in Smash Bros, it would be the best game ever, and nobody would pick any other character other than Thexder because it is a giant mech that turns into a jet and has a homing laser that would just kill everybody without even trying. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: omgnoseat on June 24, 2012, 04:28:31 PM Boy did I hate Brawl with a wii-mote. It was like race-car driving without a car. Please don't tell me you never played it with a gamecube controller?! :'(I`m really curious how the tablet controller is to hold. Smash brothers is probably my favourite multiplayer game of all time. I liked brawl, but it didn't last as long as melee. Don't know if that's because I got older or if there is a different reason. I did like the "physics" better, the jumping and hit impact felt like an improvement from melee. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Graham- on June 24, 2012, 04:36:24 PM I gamed the shit out of Melee back in University.
Cubing the wii wasn't always practical. Also not everyone could have one. I can't twitch left-right with a nunchuck. Blah.... Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Touch screen final smashes calling it right now. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: SirNiko on June 24, 2012, 04:46:05 PM If they go with touch screen final smashes then everyone will require a DS or a tablet controller, and I think after the disaster that was Four Swords Adventures multiplayer (which was a great game but was virtually impossible to make happen) Nintendo knows not to repeat that error.
Final Smashes will have no touch screen component. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Graham- on June 24, 2012, 04:48:18 PM Fuck.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Xion on June 25, 2012, 08:49:47 AM Smash Bros. Melee is probably my single most played game ever. So much good times. I liked brawl but, as omgnoseat said, it didn't last as long for whatever reason. What the fuck tripping. I still play them both occasionally, though.
I like the soul calibur games, and smash bros is one of my favorite franchises. Looking forward to this next one. I don't think it'll release on launch though - they announced it with the wii U's announcement but hadn't started working on it yet and didn't until Kid Icarus Uprising was finished. I think they'll keep normal controller support, even if they do add support for the gimmickier inputs. Does Wii U still have gamecube controller ports? Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. The closest you'll get is this traditional-style gamepad for Wii U:I like the soul calibur games, and smash bros is one of my favorite franchises. Looking forward to this next one. (http://i.imgur.com/UJuMu.jpg) And indeed, don't expect SSB4 anytime soon. It only just started development, and producing a title like SSB takes ages. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Xion on June 25, 2012, 03:47:21 PM hmm, that doesn't look too bad. I like the xbox controller well enough.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Graham- on June 25, 2012, 06:30:15 PM The biggest issue is the right-hand buttons and stick are swapped. That might be better for shooters, which are un-Nintendo, but not for Smash. Beats the classic though, probably.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Xion on June 25, 2012, 07:46:54 PM yeah I was gonna say something about the joystick swapping but I'll reserve my judgement until I have it in my hands. Gamecube had the strangest looking controller but it turned out to be amazing. I also thought the DC controller looked weird but it was a welcome change from n64's. I've learned to be light on my judgement of controllers until I actually give 'em a try.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Graham- on June 25, 2012, 07:49:55 PM Yeah, wait and see.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: alastair on June 25, 2012, 07:56:10 PM It has a Dpad instead of the xbox's dumpad, so it should be nice.

Beats the classic though, probably. How do you know if you haven't used it?Myself, Smash-wise, I'm mostly concerned with the layout of the 4 buttons. This is similar to the Classic Controller's, and proved problematical for Smashers used to having the special attack button besides the normal attack button, not diagonally across. I always preferred to play Wiimote (without Nunchuck) over Classic Controller, and that was one of the main reasons. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Beats the classic though, probably. How do you know if you haven't used it?You're right, I don't know for sure. The playstation controller has both analogs down and d-pad/buttons up. The xbox controller has the left side swapped. Now this controller has the right swapped as well. It's in the middle. The reason: precise dexterity while holding the thumb slightly down is harder. Thumb downing is just more awkward. Try doing it right now with your hands. I think having the analog down on the left side on the Playstation controller is a little more natural because I can rest my thumb on it, so I have this anchor. My intuition says that the experience will be different for buttons because I'll have to center my thumb using my downward pulling muscles and not those that press my thumb into the anchor. The left analog on the Playstation controller only requires me to use those muscles when I'm switching from the d-pad - that's an order of magnitude more rare. I am just guessing though. The Japanese sit on their knees way more than we do, and they're totally cool with it. Maybe this experience will open my mind. Who knows. The tablet controller looks kind of cool too. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Graham- on June 25, 2012, 10:27:48 PM I always preferred to play Wiimote (without Nunchuck) over Classic Controller, and that was one of the main reasons. Seriously... wow. I had so much trouble doing that. The Z-button on the left-hand was so hard for me to hit. Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. U Post by: Graham- on June 25, 2012, 10:46:36 PM Grab and air-dodge were critical to my move set. Given that and the smallness of just the wii-mote broke my rhythm. I only thought about how playing used to be.
I wonder how the tablet will be. I'm actually kind of excited to dev on it. I already love the idea of real-time iPad integration with console games. |
