Title: My violent sequel Post by: Avgudar on November 01, 2012, 02:13:55 PM The sequel to the world famous gory top down zombie shooter has begun to be developed.
This game will feature never before seen things such as achievements and a minimap not just consisting of square pixels. :mockangry: i plan on adding automatically generated map so it will be more rouge-like than the first game. Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PFlRcshArd4 Here is a demo: DL alpha 2 (http://gamejolt.com/games/skymning/download/10143/) Martin, I follow the rules of the forum. nice sound effects too, can't wait to see it with some characters in there Title: Re: My violent sequel Post by: Avgudar on November 01, 2012, 06:26:30 PM i really like the way the bullets effect the environment and enemies, the particles and such are really well done. The cubes are the characters. A little cheap, perhaps, but I can't animate. There was an artist on board who wanted to do the animations, but he chickened out. :nono:nice sound effects too, can't wait to see it with some characters in there This is the best I can do given how much stuff I have to draw to finish this anytime soon. Title: Re: My violent sequel Post by: gorgyme on November 05, 2012, 03:43:24 AM I enjoyed all of this. Enough to play it until I had destroyed every tree and filled the entire map with blood and guts. I even kinda like the little cubes, to indicate who is who.
Obviously having working health would be useful, and I like the idea of having different types of enemies (different colours, of course). Faster, stronger, larger cubes that fall apart into many smaller cubes, etc. Sometimes, you really just want to jump into a game for 10 minutes, shoot the crap out of a lot of things and then leave again, and this game fulfils that need perfectly. Nice :) Title: Re: My violent sequel Post by: Avgudar on November 05, 2012, 09:42:31 AM Are you planning on any structured levels or more than one zombie type? In the previous game there where multi-segment worms, bigger zombies, moths, beetles and butterflies. I plan on adding them all, as well as various levels with snow and desert landscapes.Title: Re: My violent sequel Post by: Udderdude on November 05, 2012, 09:52:50 AM Are you planning on any structured levels or more than one zombie type? Sound effects and music seemed fitting as well. As for the characters, I have played a lot of zombie games with people, but how come no one ever goes for the tank? I would in a zombie apocalypse. Plus you don't have to animate a human ;D
Why not go further and have zombies driving cars? Everyone assumes zombies cannot drive... Seems like you are off to a nice start. I did not play the first game, I did look at some screenshots. I guess tanks and driving zombies may not be part of the universe from the first game. I did notice that the zombies behaved a bit strange sometimes when close to the player in groups. They did not seem to be very intelligent. Are you using path finding at all times? Good luck! |
