I'm looking for something to grant me and my friends some mindless fun when we meet. What we enjoyed so far:

-Audiosurf
It has a co-op mode, so that's a big plus, but even without it it's pretty fun to just watch others play it, especially when stoned (important factor too).

-Sumotori
Great game, lots of laughs.

-Street Fighter IV
Could easily be enjoyed casually by simply mashing buttons but it gets old this way really fast.

-Worms
Yeah, it was awesome 10+ years ago, but I've had enough.

-Shank
It was very fun in co-op until we started dying, not sure if it was the lowest difficulty level or not but we really suck at games when we meet (you should've seen us try to figure out Cortex Command in co-op).

Do you guys have any suggestions? We prefer easy games that at least two people can play either in co-op or versus and using an xBox controller.

Jamestown, or maybe Shatter.

Trine and Trine 2. Magicka is hilarious with friends. Rayman Origins. Serious Sam 3: BFE (has splitscreen on PC!). Awesomenauts (which is on sale right now) I believe has local play on PC. I think Beat Hazard has local multiplayer. Blur has local multiplayer if you have 2 360 controllers (can't do one keyboard, one controller for some reason if I remember correctly; I might be wrong, but I remember there was something weird). Cortex Command if you've got extra keyboards + mice. Dustforce has some multiplayer, I think. Bionic Commando: Rearmed has local co-op. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Shank 2 has wave survival co-op I think.

There's also some good stuff through emulation.

Thanks guys :) Of all those games Awesomenauts and Dustforce definitely got me interested, I also considered getting Magicka or Bionic Commando for some time.
I think I'll try Dustforce, the multiplayer looks really fun and seeing that it has a Linux port and is already in SteamPlay, chances are I will get it for Steam on Linux some day :eyebrows:

me and my friend had a blast with Action Fist (http://teknopants.com/games/actionfist/). it's shame it was so short. he also made shoot first (http://teknopants.com/2011/05/shoot-first/), a coop action roguelike. it's a fun game, though haven't had the chance to try the coop of it yet.

oh and both can be played with controllers

you should download a mame client and get a bunch of arcade roms. some great arcade games and nearly all of them are coop. my favorite series being metal slug.

MAME.  I mean, come on.

Haven't played much arcade games, but I definitely remember Metal Slug so maybe I'll try the emulator thing, thanks.

I played Liero (and Gusanos+Mods) to death, but yeah, definitely a great example, and worth revisiting from time to time.

0Space! Also by Teknopants, the guy(s?) who did Action Fist.
Dungeons of Fayte is great and supports up to four players.
Super Amazing Wagon Adventure isn't multiplayer but it's absurd enough to stay entertaining for a while if you pass the controller around.
Realistic Summer Sports is pretty hilarious so long as you have a wireless mouse you can pass around.

Didn't leave me with much of an impression, though you bringing it up did remind me that I left off Elevator Action Returns for some stupid reason.  That is essential.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (2 player co-op).

Enviro-bear 2000 (no co-op, but it insane).

Portal 2.

Liero is pretty great, hah.

If you like arcade racing games, I could definitely recommend Blur (http://store.steampowered.com/app/42640/). It has split-screen multiplayer up to four players and is mad fun with friends. It's a criminally underrated gem in my opinion.

If you want something that lasts a little longer, I can also vouch for the first Kane & Lynch, which also has split-screen multiplayer on PC (while the sequel doesn't, but the sequel is worse anyway). I played it with my friend and we found it good fun from start to finish, even though the quality dropped towards the end.
