Title: Weird Worlds Returns! Post by: DigitalEelRich on December 04, 2012, 05:03:00 AM Hi guys! We got the rights to Weird Worlds back from the publisher (Yay!), so we jumped in and updated the game (swapped-in our more recently developed proprietary sound engine, brightened graphics, fixed a last stray crash bug) to v1.30. Now we can freely distribute Weird Worlds and (finally) offer it at a groovy and appropriate low price ($9.99).
If you're not aware of Weird Worlds, it was first released in 2005. It's a hybrid roguelike game of space exploration, adventure and starship combat set within a peculiar region of the galaxy known as the Purple Void. Each time Weird Worlds is played, a new and different "instant space opera" is generated, but unlike other games of its roguelike kind that go on for dozens of hours, it plays to its conclusion in less than thirty minutes. Features also include a fully animated star map, a unique turn-based movement system, real-time starship battles (naval/Wrath of Khan style), full color hi-res graphics (this isn't an ASCII game), stereo music and sound, mod friendliness and a robust battle simulator (that gives you access to ALL ships in the game). You can learn more about Weird Worlds here: http://www.infinitespacegames.com/weirdworlds/ We put together a new, short demo video you can czech out too: http://youtu.be/NgnovX1XDic First up, Weird Worlds is on sale at IndieGameStand (pay what you want) until Thursday (Dec. 6) at which point it becomes available via Desura ($9.99). Steam's on board but it might take a few weeks for them to activate the buy page yet. Hopefully other portals will follow. For the IndieGameStand sale we put together a bunch of cool freebies as enticements including all versions of the game's predecessor, Strange Adventures in Infinite Space, and the unsupported (but official) Weird Worlds for pre-Lion Mac OS X. https://indiegamestand.com/ http://www.desura.com/games/weird-worlds-return-to-infinite-space Well, that's my story and I'm stuck with it. Keep makin'. Keep playin'! Thanks, all! - Rich Carlson Title: Re: Weird Worlds Returns! Post by: Neonlare on December 04, 2012, 05:59:03 AM This is excellent news. I was wondering what was happening with the game series! Really looking forward to what this entails for the future~
