Title: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: trilby on May 16, 2013, 05:23:25 AM Hi guys its finally my first post in this part of the forum! I have been working my first title Elevator Hero for a while now and I am a good stage of the way into it. I was hoping to enroll a few folks to give me some feedback/suggestions on it. It's at a stage now where I finish it completely or dust it under the rug and start something new!
For a taster of the game here is a work in progress video for you to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FptVWWM5MuY[ It's currently on the test flight site for download, if you email me at [email protected] I will send you the instructions over of how to access it. If you're an iOS user please send me your UDID and I will add you to the build :) I'm not looking for anything more than "I like it!" or "It sucks!" (hopefully not though), but obviously any suggestions for improvement are also welcome, whatever you can spare really. Thanks for reading Title: Re: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: ACOM on May 19, 2013, 01:13:47 AM I like it! Is like Elevator Action but for Android :)
Title: Re: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: trilby on May 19, 2013, 02:14:21 AM Yes! Do you want to test it?
Title: Re: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: solkar on May 21, 2013, 01:56:04 AM I've sent you an email with my UDID. Wouldn't be easier to post the link to your TF build here?
Title: Re: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: trilby on May 21, 2013, 02:10:23 AM Cool just setting you up. The trouble is I have to add the UDID's manually so the TF build is useless really until I have done this.
Title: Re: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: solkar on May 21, 2013, 03:15:40 AM Yes, I know it only too well! It's a pain to get people to sign their devices! Half of the people I ask they can't figure out how to do it or they're too lazy.
Title: Re: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: trilby on May 21, 2013, 04:06:49 AM Android is much easier in that respect because you can just distribute the apk file freely.
Title: Re: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: solkar on May 21, 2013, 05:01:02 AM I've been playing for 30 minutes and I couldn't even beat level 1.
[Controls] You should give some visual feedback about which elevator is going to be called and/or when you are in an "active" zone. I guess there's a zone from where you can enable the elevator and when you're off that zone the control does nothing. I don't like that the avatar moves when you're calling and elevator. Calling the elevator with a swipe, OK. Having to use the command again to open the door, I don't think so. That seems like an artificial hindrance that doesn't make much sense in how a modern elevator works. (It sounds like I'm an expert, which is not the case). Why can't you just press in the eye button to look at things? Having to press both sides of the screen when there's an icon there it feels a little awkward. [The guard] He moves too fast. When I'm inside the elevator with the door closed it opens and he kills me. How are you supposed to beat this guy? Title: Re: Elevator Hero - Feedback - Android and iOS Post by: trilby on May 21, 2013, 05:47:12 AM Hey this is great feedback!
Funny - I have had both ends of the spectrum now, some like yourself find it too difficult and others can breeze through it. I think I have an issue with the communication of how to call the elevators - you have to be stood at the call buttons, a visual prompt is a great idea and I will implement that for definite. You dont need to swipe again to open the doors though. The swipe only works at the call buttons. You have no control over the doors they open when the elevator is in position and close after a delay. If you could close the doors earlier the game would become very easy and would take away the strategy side of it I believe. The eye button later in the game becomes an inventory selection key so this is why i did not use this. The guard movement is OK once you have mastered the controls, beating the game is all about timing and strategy I'm afraid! I just added this maybe it will shed some light on things maybe not? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0-C_c6ZluI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0-C_c6ZluI) If it does can you let me know what please :) PS Thanks for your time in this, I owe you a beer! :toastL: |
