Title: Sail With the Grail! (multiplayer arena clusterfuck)

Sail with the Grail will be a multiplayer free-for-all dungeon arena for four to ten players, involving teamwork, cooperation, and planning, but ultimately treachery, backstabbing, and crying.

The objective of the game is simply to grab the holy grail in the middle of the dungeon and bring it back to the spawn point to sail away with the grail. However, there is only one winner, and four or five other players on the map are vying for the same goal.

As soon as one player grabs the holy grail, hell figuratively but ironically breaks loose as former team members descend on the grail holder. The grail holder must fight or worm his way to the ship, avoiding traps, environmental hazards, and other players while holding the unlimited power of the grail at his side.

Theme:

We’re working on some theme involving 19th century explorers uncovering the lost volcano island where the undead knights templar are holding the grail (as tacky as that sounds). More on this as it develops

Character and Environment Design:

(coming some time later. For now, I'm just gonna dump some tiles)

Gameplay:
Each player has a certain lifespan, “power” level, and health. “Power” boosts your stats and is equivalent to “leveling”, except the way you gain power is by sucking up blood on the ground accumulated after gibbing enemies. Monster blood will stay on the ground until someone picks it up (though not necessarily the person who killed the monster). At certain milestones for power, players will gain certain latent abilities.

Lifespan is a slowly ticking timer that counts how long a player will live. Each player starts out with a normal human’s lifespan, which if unaltered will not run out by the time each game is finished. As players gain power, their lifespan decreases multiplicatively; at a certain point, a player’s power may be so large that his lifespan becomes seconds and he dies nearly instantly.

The way around this constant balancing act is by picking up the holy grail. The holy grail not only grants the infinite lifespan (unless someone kills you), but steadily increases the player’s power at an additive rate. The grail holder can still take damage from other players but do not attract monsters.

More as this developed!

Haha, love the idea of working together with players and then only to backstab them eventually. A fairly wacky and original game name as well.

Do you have any specific outlooks for platforms you are publishing for?

We're really going for that, haha. Sooner or later I'm gonna post a gif of our zoom in/zoom out system where you can see the whole map (you're a 16x16 character on a massive map). Very clusterfucky.

Nothing extensive. We're focusing on a PC release though. It's being built in Unity.
