Title: Ballfall - A strange fps Post by: Dals on July 22, 2013, 04:08:43 PM Hi,
I am new to this forum and I thought that posting about my current project would help to get to know the community better. Webplay https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5470325/fps-test/Version%200.0.1.1.html (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5470325/fps-test/Version%200.0.1.1.html) -> Requires unity web player So here it goes... I made erhm.. something in Unity. I don't want to call it a game.. rather more a surreal experience. I call it BallFall for now and if you play it you will get why. Controls: WASD to move left shift to sprint R to restart when you have won. Space to jump. The kind of feedback I'm looking for is anything really but if you want specifics then it would be great to know: What your first impressions is. - Do you know what to do? - How do you take in the environment? - Dose the music fit the surreal theme? And what would like me to add? This is nothing special or big or anything like that just a rather small experiment I did while trying to learn Unity. The music and the font is not created by me. I only use it as placeholder to have something: Originals source (at least where I found them!): http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Kosta_T/Complect_for/rnb http://www.1001freefonts.com/font/AgentOrange.zip Thanks in advance :D ~Dals Title: Re: Ballfall - A strange fps Post by: Majestic on July 22, 2013, 06:48:49 PM It's a nice start. Pretty basic so far but the music is interesting and unique. My first impression was to collect the balls since the counter for it was at the top.
I think you should keep going with the idea. Those red balls falling could be anything Title: Re: Ballfall - A strange fps Post by: mushroomized on July 22, 2013, 08:00:27 PM what if instead of balls it was meteorites and you had to save people from your village?
great music though Title: Re: Ballfall - A strange fps Post by: Majestic on July 22, 2013, 08:08:49 PM I was thinking something like falling zombies lol. That was the first thing that came to mind.
Maybe stop falling zombies from attack the village. Title: Re: Ballfall - A strange fps Post by: Dals on July 23, 2013, 05:35:32 AM It's a nice start. Yes it is basic and I would like to keep it that way. Yes you should collect something but not the balls because they hurt you ;)I think you should keep going with the idea. Those red balls falling could be anything what if instead of balls it was meteorites and you had to save people from your village? That is a good idea. What if the collectables would be some kind of resource that you would need to save the village with?great music though I was thinking something like falling zombies lol. That was the first thing that came to mind. Haha, that is funny. That I could make like an shooter game. And hrm that would be cool actually but not what I intended for this project. I wanted to make something psychedelic. Thanks for the idea though! Maybe stop falling zombies from attack the village. Title: Re: Ballfall - A strange fps Post by: ndke on July 23, 2013, 08:59:53 AM It surely is a good start!
I liked the music and it was fitting the theme very well. Because there was a counter on top and the balls did damage to me I understood the game very fast so I think that's clear enough. :) When I play the game I feel a bit small in comparison to the environment, maybe you could increase the player's height? Title: Re: Ballfall - A strange fps Post by: lekochen on July 24, 2013, 05:41:26 AM The goal is clear: collect the yellow thing and avoid the red ball. Music is good, I like its atmosphere and it fits the sky and mountain pretty well.
IMO, the map is too large and it's hard to find all the yellow things without any clue. Maybe you can add glow / beam to the yellow thing, so the player can identify it from far away. Okey I will try that out and if it feels okay it will stick in the game :)I liked the music and it was fitting the theme very well. Good, then I have succeeded with one thing at least!IMO, the map is too large and it's hard to find all the yellow things without any clue.
