Title: Video Game Threads! (clothes)
Post by: Skofo on November 08, 2008, 10:40:57 PM
Post links to kickass video game clothes! Shirts, hoodies, dungarees, whatever.

Woot Shirt recently had a derby with shirts of video games a la historic art themes. Today's is Tetris in the Style of M.C. Escher (http://shirt.woot.com/Friends.aspx?k=7016) for only $10. Two other artistic VG shirts have already been wooted, but you can still get them late for $15: Mario Kart Blue Shell in the Style of Da Vinci (http://shirt.woot.com/Friends.aspx?k=7014) and Mario in the style of Rembrandt (http://shirt.woot.com/Friends.aspx?k=7015). There was also a shirt-as-costume derby not too long ago, and they had an awesome giant Gameboy shirt (http://shirt.woot.com/friends.aspx?k=6963). All of these have free shipping in the US, or $5 for overnight/international shipping.

I bought them alll. Bwahahaha.  :D I'm such a nerd. If you plan on buying any of them, you should do it ASAP because they don't last forever.

You guys have any links to (or even just pictures of) VG clothes to share? Just comments work, too!

Alas, I have but one entry to give for this thread, so here (http://t-shirts.cafepress.com/item/dark-tshirt/160537112) it is. I'd post more if I knew any more, but I don't. So yeah.

I want that Da Vinci shirt, but I'm wary of taxes (ended up having to pay about two times the real price of the last thing I imported). Do you think they would ship as a natural person so that I'm not taxed?

I have no idea, sorry.  :(

These (http://www.merchlackey.com/thebehemoth/cyatofu_detailmens.php) are (http://www.merchlackey.com/thebehemoth/cyasnail_detailmens.php) awesome (http://www.merchlackey.com/thebehemoth/cyasnake_detailmens.php). Sort of kinda video game related. Almost.

I don't know what this is like in every country in the world, but are you sure if that's an issue for $15 stuff? If not I'd look into that, like.

Yes. We have to pay taxes on everything, except for packages with value under US$50 coming from a natural person and books.

Got the tetris shirt, thanks for pointing out the good woot today...I really need to follow the site better, no local stores ever have any good shirts.  (well, I found one once, but it wasn't my size.)

I've made two Katamari Damacy t-shirts for myself. One of them (white on green) has the Prince of All Cosmos floating with a baloon he's grabbing by the string, and the other (white on blue) has the title in kanji on the front and clouds on the back, with the Prince sitting on one of them. I've planned other videogame-related designs but never got around to making them.

I'm assuming you made them with the iron-on stuff like that sweet WWF Panda shirt?

Man, I've really got to do this over the holidays...I want shirts with the logos of my favorite Wipeout teams on them...because those logos are pretty stylish, and cool.

Actually, no; you can't print white using that. I had them made at a place where they use this special type of vinyl that's cut using a cutting plotter, and then stamped on the fabric with heat. Cheaper than having them silkscreened, I believe, since I made only one per design.

Video game shoes give me nightmares.

I may end up in possesion of a couple of extra iron-on transfer things and some shirts so I might make myself a couple of cool T's (depending on if I'd wear them or not, I normally wear plain shirts)

I think some of the best video game shirts around come from a Japanese company known as ""The King of Games". The opened up an English site not too long ago. http://www.the-king-of-games.com/english/shop/index.php (http://www.the-king-of-games.com/english/shop/index.php)

With official blessing, designer editmode (Masaaki Enami) creates shirts based on Nintendo's licenses. The shirts are admittedly pricey, but the attention to detail is superb. Even right down to the packaging the shirt comes in, you feel like you're partaking in a piece of art by simply wearing it. I know it sounds crazy, but anyone who has ordered from The King of Games shop will probably understand exactly what I'm talking about here.

The references, however, are often rooted in obscurity... so the more hardcore of gamers will pick up on the meaning and appreciate the apparel. No obvious "Ooh, look, that shirt has Mario's face stamped across it!" -- more like "is that Koopa Jr.'s Airship from Super Mario Galaxy...!?"

Little details like printed designs inside the pockets, and surprise UV reactive color changing shirt designs just drive the home run even further. Super reccomended.

Was pleasantly surprised at wal-mart the other day:

$7.50 each!

(They also had some Domo-kun for the same price)

I'm also tempted by that:

and the Fez shirt on Polytron's website.

Saw this (http://binarymind.fileave.com/shirt.jpg) today... don't ask me where to buy it.

I have been thinking about getting this Grunt shirt (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Grunt-Face-Halo-T-shirt_W0QQitemZ180390560279QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_CSA_MC_Shirts?var=&hash=item6fc23b3ae5)!

Also McQuiggan, your first two links don't seem to be working.
