Title: No Quarter (new cryptic sea game) Post by: Edmund on December 04, 2008, 11:05:47 PM so yeah, in early 09 Cryptic Sea (Alex and myself) are releasing an "album" of retro inspired games that will play kind of like tracks on a cd, the project is called No Quarter.
The current track listing so far is: (Note that track titles are not final) 1."gun" (Mario + N + Wolfenstein) 2.Trivium (Tetris + Physics) 3."epic flail" (Missile Command + Rampage) 4.Hext (Scrabble + Hex board) 5."tree" (Art game + Sim) 6.Odyssey ( Lunar Lander + Awesome ) The project is still very early in development, so more tracks might pop up as time passes. I put together a video showing the basics of what we have so far, this video represents the first few months of development and what we submitted to the IGF this year. The build we have up is obviously very early, but we will be updating a lot this month, lets hope the judges check back. Epic Flail is a awesome title by the way. Oh, and I am not buying this unless it is released like a music cd, jewel case booklet and all :P

Title: Re: No Quarter (new cryptic sea game) Post by: William Broom on December 05, 2008, 07:09:38 AM This sounds awesome. I love the idea of new, um, like, formats for games. In the same way Farbs is doing that whole 'game blog' thing.
Title: Re: No Quarter (new cryptic sea game) Post by: george on December 05, 2008, 07:20:53 AM this is so weird. A couple of days ago the title No Quarter popped into my head and has been there ever since. :o

Actually I am pretty sure he is a collection of sentient robots working to spread the propaganda of the galactic overmind. Yeah alex is pulling out all the stops with the physics. "gun" will feature a ton of physics very similar to Gish. we should be updating again by the xmas break, i really want to show you guys what we are working on with gun and the tree game, its exciting stuff :) -Edmund Title: Re: No Quarter (new cryptic sea game) Post by: Zaphos on December 05, 2008, 09:56:02 PM I am so looking forward to Gun and Odyssey :)
Title: Re: No Quarter (new cryptic sea game) Post by: skaldicpoet9 on December 05, 2008, 10:21:16 PM Okay, I have no idea how this would work but I think it would be pretty cool nonetheless if possible. Going with the album thing here I think it would be awesome if the game disk could also double as a music disk that would play the music from the games in a cd player...just a thought...
anyways, looking really forward to this :) Title: Re: No Quarter (new cryptic sea game) Post by: BMcC on December 05, 2008, 10:30:20 PM Totally rad. 8)
Stop making games so fast, your face'll get stuck that way! Title: Re: No Quarter (new cryptic sea game) Post by: Edmund on December 06, 2008, 12:42:26 AM well this one will take a while to finish, its more of a full length game like gish broken into 5-6 pieces. most of the games are less then a month in dev wise and i would expect it would take another 2+ months to get them all really playable.
