Title: In Sanity - A Doctor Sim in the 18th Century Post by: The_Observer on June 04, 2014, 03:06:30 PM Hello guys!
I'm here to tell you about a new game I'm starting. It's working title is In Sanity and it's a simple game where you take the job of a doctor in the 18th century. The plan is for you to diagnose, analyse and treat all kinds of conditions with several patients. That way you'll be able to build a library of diseases, a lab for medicines, a garden for herbs, an autopsy room for research and all kinds of other things allowing you to expand and advance as an established doctor. In the game, when you get a patient you'll be able to focus on different body parts to treat them. For this I made a little prototype to test the mechanic when you're focused on a body part. You can play it here. (http://the_observer.itch.io/in-sanity) Just drag and drop the correct tool on the correct condition. Next I'm going to focus on finding an art style, so expect this soon! (What's up with 42 stories btw?) Title: Re: In Sanity - A Doctor Sim in the 18th Century Post by: dez on June 22, 2014, 06:34:04 AM Ha!
Your prototype reminds me of an old game called 'Life & Death' (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_%26_Death). Here is a Youtube of someone playing it in ultra high speed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uCHSqp4qSQ Your theme seems much more interesting though :) good luck! Title: Re: In Sanity - A Doctor Sim in the 18th Century Post by: The_Observer on June 23, 2014, 03:21:02 AM Looking great! :) (What's up with 42 stories btw?) Hi Edgar! Thanks, great to hear from you. I should message you again some time. ;) 42 Stories is on hold I'm afraid, we haven't stopped working on it, just haven't found the time due some work-related changes. I'll do a post in the thread later when I'm more certain of the direction we're gonna take. But that's why I'm working on some other ideas(like this) on my own. Can't keep standing still! Ha! It's funny that you know Life & Death, I used to play that as a kid, but wasn't very good at it. It still is a major influence though. Although now games like Papers Please or Surgeon Simulator are also a major inspiration. |
