Intro
Hello guys! I'm here to talk about a game I'm developing with some friends called "Mission Ziggurat". I started the game alone in june, then later some some friends joined up. Now I'm resuming the project and expanding the concept.

Mission Ziggurat is a action platformer game with RPG elements and featuring some cool mechanics and an interesting storyline (I think  :)) with multiples endings. The game is being developed using Unity (free version for now, I accept donations of the pro version ;)) for PC and Mac. The expected release is the end of 2015.

Synopsis

In the far future of one fictitious universe, the depleting of the Earth's natural resources has forced the humanity to seek other planets to live. Searching for nearby planets, the planet Ziggurat was the most suitable, but the lack of a dense atmosphere and cold temperatures were impediments for a normal life. But after some expeditions and experiments there, a new energy technology was born, thus making possible the habitability.

After many years, the humanity dug their feet definitely in Ziggurat, created only one nation controlled by a selected tribune focused on the order and well-being of their inhabitants.

Mel Stosh is a young researcher of the Core Monitoring Space Station of the planet Ziggurat. She is daughter of Greg Stosh, the head of the station. There, her job, is to analyse and monitor the planet's core and atmosphere to ensure the safety of all.

One day after the analysis of her research, she found some inexplicable discrepancies in the current model of the core's behavior... That's leads to the events of this game!

Gameplay

A side-scroller action plataformer with gamepad-oriented controls: d-pad or left analog stick to move, right analog stick to aim and the top button for actions like jump, shoot. (you can also play with keyboard+mouse).

I still thinking about the levels structure, but I'm tending to something inspired in Muramasa Rebith's levels structure.

And the about the mechanics that differentiate this game from others, is the use of a library I created for unity that allows pixel-perfect collisions that's allow some cool mechanics (one example is my last Ludum Dare game "Our Worlds (http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=10464)") and other thinks that we already thought or will think.

About the RPG elements, expect a lot of weapons variations and skill trees.

About the enemies, expect the traditional types, big bosses. but not only that, I'll try to experiment more robust IA with fuzzy logic, behavior trees or not, something that leaves the game more fun.

  • and others maybe

Outro
I'll try to give resumed updates here every week. But if you like I'll try to share the latest development in the Facebook page. I will be grateful if you can give some feedback when something playable will be available. Thanks!  :gentleman:
