Title: Up Post by: Jared C on March 07, 2009, 09:50:30 PM Is anyone else ridiculously excited for this movie?
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I789Pr5wLUc I was at the New York Comicon and was THIS close to seeing it before it came out. They had a private screening for the first people that got there, but I wasn't quick enough. :( Title: Re: Up Post by: Inanimate on March 07, 2009, 09:54:30 PM Yeah, this movie looks fantastic!
Title: Re: Up Post by: JLJac on March 08, 2009, 12:15:00 AM Hahaha!
The only thing I'm not to excited about is the fat boy scout. I hate characters like that, they always ruin everything in a very jar jar binks kind of way. Title: Re: Up Post by: Zest on March 08, 2009, 06:09:04 AM YES. I cannot wait for this movie.
Title: Re: Up Post by: Hempuli‽ on March 08, 2009, 07:01:45 AM Wow, looks very awesome.
The protagonist reminds me of Braid. And he's totally awesome. Title: Re: Up Post by: fish on March 08, 2009, 08:45:48 AM pixar has achieved nothing less than grandmastery at what they do.
so inspiring! Title: Re: Up Post by: KennEH! on March 08, 2009, 08:48:04 AM I definitely want to see this. I missing way to many good Pixar movies.
Title: Re: Up Post by: The-Imp on March 08, 2009, 08:48:24 AM What everyone else said. Except the fat boyscout comment, I don't think he'll be to bad.
Title: Re: Up Post by: Levin on March 08, 2009, 09:02:25 AM Is anyone else ridiculously excited for this movie? Here I am :shrug2: Quote from: JLJac The only thing I'm not to excited about is the fat boy scout. I hate characters like that, they always ruin everything in a very jar jar binks kind of way. hey, he's just a poor fat egg-boy. You, monster! :'( Title: Re: Up Post by: Adamski on March 08, 2009, 10:03:37 AM I love to see how Pixar have really mastered the art at creating their own style of human characters. I remember seeing Toy Story and the people in that- kinda simple and "safe", then you see the Incredibles and the Human characters in that have come so far, stylistically (although I find that film a little boring at times). Then Wall-e was crazy with chubby people, crossed with real videos of people :-* Up is gonna be great, I hope.
BTW, I really recommend the Art of Pixar books, they are packed with amazing concept art :handthumbsupR: (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51se741UreL._SS500_.jpg) Title: Re: Up Post by: fish on March 08, 2009, 10:13:32 AM their concept art is sooo UPA sometimes.
it's lovely. Title: Re: Up Post by: Corpus on March 08, 2009, 10:40:45 AM This looks great! I never much liked the look of Cars, but with Wall-E and now this they seem (I hope) to be back on a roll.
Title: Re: Up Post by: Μarkham on March 08, 2009, 11:35:28 AM The only thing I'm not to excited about is the fat boy scout. I hate characters like that, they always ruin everything in a very jar jar binks kind of way. I'm pretty sure the fat boy scout will actually have character development and actual importance to the plot, unlike Jar Jar. ;) I mean, this is Pixar we're talking about, not George Lucas. Title: Re: Up Post by: shinygerbil on March 08, 2009, 05:56:58 PM This looks great! I never much liked the look of Cars, but with Wall-E and now this they seem (I hope) to be back on a roll. Cars was a decent, competent film, but yeah, it didn't really have the magic that some of their other films do. I also felt that Ratatouille was a little under par, but again, totally competently made - just not my thing I guess.Title: Re: Up Post by: Tanner on March 08, 2009, 06:02:49 PM Actually, Ratatouille is one of my favorites. Maybe because it was directly after Cars?
Title: Re: Up Post by: reetva on March 08, 2009, 06:28:32 PM Ratatouille was pretty great. Perhaps one of my favorites, even!
Title: Re: Up Post by: The-Imp on March 08, 2009, 06:31:39 PM Agreed Reetva.
But the Incredibles will always be my favorite no matter what. Title: Re: Up Post by: Xion on March 08, 2009, 06:42:44 PM I seem to be the only person I know that did not enjoy Ratatouille.
A Bug's Life ftw. Title: Re: Up Post by: Tanner on March 08, 2009, 07:17:25 PM A Bug's Life ftw. :-\ ??? :wtf: :screamy: :epileptic:You best be trollin', boy. Title: Re: Up Post by: The-Imp on March 08, 2009, 07:22:10 PM I didn't really enjoy A Bug's Life, I don't know why... But I certainly do like it more than Cars, which wasn't very good...
Title: Re: Up Post by: Shade Jackrabbit on March 08, 2009, 08:26:51 PM Huzzah! Another Pixar movie!
I'm very interested to see where the plot goes. I mean, there's a lot you can do with a cranky old guy in a flying house. Title: Re: Up Post by: Fuzz on March 08, 2009, 09:02:30 PM How has Wall-E not been mentioned? :wtf:
Title: Re: Up Post by: Shade Jackrabbit on March 08, 2009, 09:03:22 PM How has Wall-E not been mentioned? :wtf: I was considering it but I didn't think the thread title was "What's your favorite pixar movie?" ;)Title: Re: Up Post by: Adamski on March 08, 2009, 11:16:54 PM I have likes and dislikes about most of the films, to be honest. I'd have to say Finding Nemo is my favourite film, but only because I love fish :-[
Title: Re: Up Post by: Selben Coirlo on March 08, 2009, 11:53:05 PM Fuzz, Wall-E is so obviously great it doesn't even need to be mentioned.
I thought Ratatouille was as good as Incredibles, but it was obviously a much mellower movie. I think they might have had a problem, though, in that the best character was only in like 3% of the movie and was dead. Title: Re: Up Post by: Adamski on March 09, 2009, 12:29:57 AM No one/not many have mentioned Monsters Inc. That was definatley my favourite concept for any pixar film (maybe appart from Up), and the intro titles were amazing :-*
Title: Re: Up Post by: Xion on March 09, 2009, 01:36:09 AM A Bug's Life ftw. :-\ ??? :wtf: :screamy: :epileptic:You best be trollin', boy. Title: Re: Up Post by: Renton on March 09, 2009, 01:49:08 AM I liked Cars.
*hides* Title: Re: Up Post by: Gainsworthy on March 09, 2009, 01:50:36 AM No one/not many have mentioned Monsters Inc. That was definatley my favourite concept for any pixar film (maybe appart from Up), and the intro titles were amazing :-* Heck yes. I could have just watched an extended intro title and walked away satisfied. The character design was gorgeous in that film. This looks superb too! Ah, ballooning from the saftey of one's own home. To dream. Plus, it even looks good in YoutubeVison! Title: Re: Up Post by: Valter on March 09, 2009, 02:17:10 AM Monsters Inc. had some of the best blooper reels for any movie, ever.
Title: Re: Up Post by: ChevyRay on March 09, 2009, 02:19:16 AM Up looks amazing.
Horton Hears a Who is by far my favorite of all the 3D movies so far. Title: Re: Up Post by: Adamski on March 09, 2009, 02:39:50 AM I would have prefered it if they had somehow done it in live action, like the other Seuss films. Would have been nice to keep them all uniform and as a series, if you like.

Title: Re: Up Post by: Iamthejuggler on March 09, 2009, 05:14:48 AM That looks great!
My favourite was easily Monsters Inc. Mainly because the extras on the dvd were so good. I think the fact that i was in the CG industry when it came out, I pored over the extras and making ofs for hours! Title: Re: Up Post by: Adamski on March 09, 2009, 05:19:30 AM Oh wow, I love the look of the bird character :-*
Title: Re: Up Post by: Fuzz on March 09, 2009, 07:02:39 AM Up looks amazing. I loved Horton Hears a Who! It was so unabashedly weird and it was way better than any other Seuss movie adaption (I'm not talking about the hand drawn animated ones). Horton Hears a Who is by far my favorite of all the 3D movies so far. Title: Re: Up Post by: Hempuli‽ on March 09, 2009, 07:37:39 AM I guess The Incredibles was my favourite, though this one sure looks like it beats all the earlier ones!
Title: Re: Up Post by: Iamthejuggler on March 09, 2009, 11:30:12 AM When the dog in the new trailer said "SQUIRREL" i burst out in an embarrassing snort laugh. Everyone in the office looked at me in a rather funny way!
Title: Re: Up Post by: Zest on March 09, 2009, 12:01:55 PM I'm going to love that dog, I can feel it. I absolutely cannot wait for May.
Title: Re: Up Post by: Inanimate on March 09, 2009, 02:11:39 PM Man, that new trailer is even better. I was already interested, but now it looks fantastic.
Title: Re: Up Post by: Jared C on March 09, 2009, 02:32:09 PM That new trailer is amazing! ;D Thanks for sharing.
Title: Re: Up Post by: Adamski on March 09, 2009, 04:25:53 PM Its amusing, they've obiously studied a dog's manurisms very closely. My golden retriever is alert like that too, "paying attention" when really she's focusing on everything around her :D
Title: Re: Up Post by: Andy Wolff on March 09, 2009, 06:13:12 PM this movie looks like it could be really cool.
Title: Re: Up Post by: Kneecaps on May 31, 2009, 06:03:09 PM Dang. I just saw this, and it's definitely my favorite movie yet by Pixar. The opening 10 minutes were extremely powerful, and the rest of the movie was just as good. I can't recommend it enough.
Title: Re: Up Post by: Zest on May 31, 2009, 06:18:07 PM I'm going to love that dog, I can feel it. I absolutely cannot wait for May. Well, damn, I was right. "Hello, my name is Dug. I have just met you, and I love you." Title: Re: Up Post by: Valter on May 31, 2009, 06:27:54 PM Yeah, I saw it too, and it's my favorite as well. Totally awesome. ;D :handthumbsupR: :handthumbsupR:
Title: Re: Up Post by: rob on June 01, 2009, 01:47:30 PM I liked it. I couldn't stand that dog's high voice though, it was annoying and wasn't funny at all.
Title: Re: Up Post by: esc on June 01, 2009, 01:55:47 PM I loved Toy Story, but about every other film after that, while prettier each time, lacked something.....
I don't know, perhaps it's the american, wholesome, family friendly, offend nobody vibe of these things. Up seems to be a real untypical film though, so I might go see it. Title: Re: Up Post by: ChevyRay on June 01, 2009, 07:08:29 PM This far exceeded my expectations. I went to watch Star Trek, but it wasn't playing for 2 hours, and Up was just about starting. So instead we went and saw that.
Man, there were people teared up all over the place! The whole row behind me was all sobbing like mad at several points in the film. What a tear jerker! Even I had a lump in my throat at a couple points in the film, and I never cry at movies. Excellent for the kids; good emotional film for the adults, too. Fun :) Title: Re: Up Post by: ChevyRay on June 01, 2009, 07:10:51 PM Dang. I just saw this, and it's definitely my favorite movie yet by Pixar. The opening 10 minutes were extremely powerful, and the rest of the movie was just as good. I can't recommend it enough. I agree. Actually, all of the extended, voice-less sequencess were all very powerful. There were several in the film, and it was really smart of Pixar to push that strong-characterized storytelling that they played around with in Wall-E. The storytelling is great, and for many parts of the film, the music and character's reactions say it all.Title: Re: Up Post by: Derek on June 02, 2009, 12:37:35 AM Yeah, it was fantastic. :tearsofjoy:
Title: Re: Up Post by: fish on June 03, 2009, 12:51:38 PM :tearsofjoy: :'(
Title: Re: Up Post by: AdamAtomic on June 03, 2009, 12:55:24 PM I was pissed that the part that FINALLY pushed me over the edge from like manly lump-in-throat choking-back to actual bonafide crying was the scene that I could see coming from about FOUR MINUTES IN TO THE FILM.
How do they do it?? It shouldn't be possible for something predictable to affect me so much...or maybe the anticipation added to it? |
