Title: Finally got a PS2
Post by: DarkSoul520 on July 24, 2009, 12:52:19 PM
So ya, I just recently got a PS2.  I know what you're thinking "Holy crap kinda late to finally get a PS2", but hey, I finally got one!  I was raised in a "Nintendo" family and those were the only systems we bought!  Now, that being said, I am still pretty knowledgeable of the games that came out on this system.  What I'm asking you guys is what games are a must play?  I just finished the first God of War which was damn fun and I just started the first Ratchet and Clank.  I have Jak and Daxter waiting after that.

Hm, Shadow of Colossus is a really interesting experience. Don't buy Ico. It sucks.
Also, I liked Monster Hunter albeit it isn't a must-buy.

Second God of War has worse story but better/smoother progression, obviously Shadow of the Colossus is a must-play, We <3 Katamari is sublime (but Katamari Damacy has the better soundtrack), Project Eden is an overlooked gameplay gem (though buggy!), and if you want action games I suggest The Red Star, Godhand, and Contra: Shattered Soldier!  :handanykey: :handanykey: :handanykey: :handanykey: :handanykey: :handanykey: :handanykey:

Shit, dude, I've been wanting to get a PS2, too! Yeah, nintendo family here as well.

Im guessing someone will recommend "Shadow of the Colossus" in the next 3 posts.

Personally, I've been wanting to check out Dark Cloud/Dark Chronicle, because they look awesome.

EDIT: I was too slow. Well, probably doesn't exactly need a Nostradamus.

SHADOW
OF
THE
COLOSSUS
EEEUUUUUUUUUGH

And Ico, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Tekken, and God of War 2.

Jak and Daxter was freakin' awesome, I've always wanted to try Ratchet and Clank, and the over-the-top action of God of War is insane.

Enjoy one of the greatest consoles ever created.

Beyond Good and Evil is amazing. if you like jrpgs try Oden Sphere, Valkyrie Profile II, or Dark Cloud II if you want to sink a lot of time into something.

Gitaroo Man
Rez
Parappa the Rapper (you'll need a PS1 memory card)
Ape Escape (ditto)
Stuntman (be warned, it's hella hard)
Burnout Revenge (great party game)
Ico

And what everyone else said.

Enjoy one of the greatest consoles ever created.

This is quite true; the sheer variety of games on the Ps2 make such it a bargain, especially now that all of them are dirt cheap. There are so many weird-ass games, it's a hunter's dream.

Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. One of the best birthday presents I've ever gotten. And yes, I'm serious.

Also, don't get Kingdom Hearts. You'll be disappointed. Or a fanboy. And you don't want to be a fanboy.

Oh, and a great little-known gem is Bombastic. It's a great arcade game if you've got multiple players.

Kingdom Hearts is all right, the sequel's story makes bugger-all sense but is much more fun to play.

Also, King Kong actually is a really good game. How good? It's by Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman and- wait for it- Beyond Good and Evil! How 'bout that?

Oh crap, forgot to say I already beat Shadow of Colossus. :D
As of right now, I have beat Shadow of Colossus, Katamari Damacy, MGS2, and MGS3 (big fan of the Metal Gear series).  Those are all the PS2 games I've beat off the top of my head.

Also, don't get Kingdom Hearts. You'll be disappointed. Or a fanboy. And you don't want to be a fanboy.
Umm why not?  From what little I've seen and played of Kingdom Hearts, it seems to be a great game.

It's by Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman and- wait for it- Beyond Good and Evil! How 'bout that?
Oh damn, I'm glad you mentioned Beyond Good and Evil because that was one of the games I really wanted to play!

About Kingdom Hearts: Actually, Mr. Lead Designer admitted to having made up the sequels as he went along. Deep Dive secret ending? "It looked cool". They needed a sequel, so he built it out of that ending. That's why there's so many plot holes: They made it up as they went along. It's like one of my D&D games, except it isn't self-aware and takes itself seriously.

The King Kong game was also co-designed by Peter Jackson, so Ancel was designing the game while Jackson was designing the more "cinematic" elements. And I don't know about the PC version, but the PS2 version has a bunch of behind-the-scenes extras which you can unlock by replaying the game, and are pretty cool. I'd say it's the best FPS I played since Half-Life 2. And I'm not saying that lightly. Also, the game looks amazing for the hardware, the sound and music are really fitting and wonderful, and the game just overflows with atmosphere. I haven't seen the movie, but I would hazard a guess the game is way better.  :-*

Also, don't get Kingdom Hearts. You'll be disappointed. Or a fanboy. And you don't want to be a fanboy.

I talk about it here (http://shadenexus.blogspot.com/2008/04/47-kingdom-hearts-and-homework.html) on my blog, but here's a summary:

1. Cuts off the original morals of Disney world storylines... for some reason... making it feel incomplete.
2. Often the third generation of a story being told. A Thousand and One Arabian Nights -> Aladdin -> Agrabah World in Kingdom Hearts. Things get flayed and less-awesome along the way.
3. They make the illusion of an interwoven story instead of actually weaving a story into the worlds.
4. Emotional scenes in the second game aren't properly led-up-to.
5. Lying about content in the games until the final release, then forcing gaming sites to take down prerelease gameplay clips. (For example: Sora vs Roxas in a struggle fight in KH2, never happens. It was in prerelease clips though.)

Did they seriously make up the story as they went along? Certainly makes sense...

I still stand by what I said. Kingdom Hearts 2 has a crappy story, but fun gameplay. Very actiony-RPG.

Title: Re: Finally got a PS2

Kingdom Hearts really only had the gameplay going for it. The the story after the first game is just dumb but whatever it's still ridiculously fun. I've played through the KHII three times but I still don't know what the hell is going on.

anyway back on topic I can't believe I forgot to mention persona 3 and 4. (again, jrpgs). Wonderful mix-bag of gameplay elements and story. Though they are extremely text heavy.

Okay, yeah, I have to submit that point. I sometimes boot up the game just to play the battle against Sephiroth. The art style for the fighting was great, making you feel like you were actually playing a battle from one of those over-the-top fighting animes. Apparently Devil May Cry is like that as well, hence I'm looking into getting into that series.

And I can't find the interview with the exact quote anymore. Apparently nobody cared so it's not easy to find.

Personally, I've been wanting to check out Dark Cloud/Dark Chronicle, because they look awesome.
The Dark Cloud series is pretty damn good, but oh man does that second game have a horrible plot and voice-acting  along with some crazy design decisions (TAKE PHOTOS OF SHIT, COMBINE PHOTOS ARBITRARILY TO INVENT SHIT). To be honest, the only thing that kept me playing DC2 was the golf minigame, which is way better than any other form of golf you will ever ever play.
I haven't played the first game since I was like 11, but I do know that I kept playing that game for the actual game and not just to hit golfballs.

Klonoa 2 is old as fuck (the first PS2 game I got) but a pretty solid platformer game.

The Persona series is pretty good, but a major time-sink. If you don't like the prospect of spending half the game hitting on chicks and hanging out with friends, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne has more 'pure' gameplay and you can collect demons to use in battle, kinda like Persona mixed with Pokemon. Either way, Persona 3/4 and SMT:N both have perfect difficulty curves and great battle systems, which says a lot since I usually hate jrpgs :durr:

The Timesplitters series are some of the best FPS games ever fuckin' made. They're pretty much made for split-screen multiplayer and they are just super awesome. If you have friendsyou can play MP videogames with, get 'em. Timesplitters 2 is the best gameplay wise, but Timesplitters: Future Perfect is the most polished and has better co-op story mode.

Does anyone know how ZONE OF THE ENDERS is? I always thought it LOOKED awesome.
The first one was pretty damn good, actually. Didn't play the second.

I'll heartily second Timesplitters 2 or Future Perfect- both are great multiplayer titles in their own right.

Ha! My cousin owned Timesplitters 2 and we played the crap out it.  That game had a RIDICULOUS amount of unlockables.  Never played Future Perfect, will have to look into that.

Diagaea is definitely their best work. All the other games seem very thrown together and amateurish (Soul Nomad, Makai Kingdom, Atelier Iris). NIS America does a fantastic job localizing them even though they're crap underneath the hood.

Timesplitters 2 is my favorite multiplayer game ever, and I would've recommended it if it wasn't available on the Gamecube. It's actually better there, too, because the GC has four ports.

Zone of the Enders is decent enough. Not a fantastic game, and it lacks a real climax sadly, but it's worth playing through, at least to get to...

Zone of the Enders: THE SECOND RUNNER!

Which is without a doubt my favourite game on the system. It's as close as you can get to a mecha-themed anime as a game. The action is fast and satisfying, the story is interesting without the sluggish pace the first game was bogged down by and the visuals are pretty damn gorgeous, at least back then. They aren't so impressive now but for the most part it has this extra stylish flair which is pretty rare. There's really nothing quite like flying around as one of the most powerful machines in the universe, spinning 10 times/sec with an enemy in tow before lobbing them into a swarm of enemy minions, charging a giant ball of energy into your palm and batting it into them for a furious blue explosion that burns all within!

Also, you fight Vic Viper from Gradius as a boss. That's pretty sweet.

Title: Re: Finally got a PS2
Post by: Overkill on July 24, 2009, 02:27:29 PM

In no particular order, I recommend these:
Odin Sphere, Persona 3, Gradius V, Metal Slug Anthology, Resident Evil 4 (I know, also released for the Gamecube, whatever), Shadow of the Colossus, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Dark Cloud 2, Katmari Damacy, We <3 Katamari.

Let's go over to the shelf...

Disgaea, definitely. Cool and funny anime-ish storyline, pretty good voice acting (even if you want the English dubbing), and the game design has some cool quirks to it...to go through the super-hardcore-extra-maps you MUST break the game system wide open.

I really liked Atelier Iris. It wasn't that difficult, but it was quite polished and it was just really charming with the funny characters. Some of the little "skits" you see when finding new recipes are actually hilarious.

I also liked Soul Nomad enough to play through all the alternate endings. The game system is neat but not entirely polished; however there are some cool ideas like Rooms, Decor...The storyline is actually pretty elaborate with some wild twists. If you go through the evil storyline you'll find yourself thinking "I can't believe they actually PUT THIS in a video game, MUCH LESS one rated T!". Of course, you could just watch some Let's Plays. ;)

I like Persona 3, very creepy with some cool ideas. I hear 4 is even better but I haven't played it yet.

If you're into shooters, you can play R-Type Final. You can unlock 100 ships and learn the entire history of the Bydo War, then customize the ships to go through the different stages. I thought it was cool.

If you haven't played Okami, you should. ;) I hear the Wii painting control kind of failed; I thought the PS2 control was pretty good.

Odin Sphere is very pretty, though the gameplay is a little tricky. It's one of those things where if you are really dexterous, you can just go right through it; if not, you have to wander around levelling up until you're powerful enough to beat the bosses.

Dark Cloud 1 & 2 are cool RPGs where you can sink a lot of time. Rogue Galaxy is also in this category.

Ar Tonelico is a neat little RPG with a couple of cool ideas. The spellcasters in your party are actually female androids; in order to power them up, you can 'Dive' into their subconscious minds and help them resolve psychological issues. We need more games that do crazy stuff like that. ;)

I played through Gauntlet: Dark Legacy and enjoyed it, but a couple of weeks ago I picked it up again and it seems kind of outdated in terms of graphics...

OutRun 2006 Coast 2 Coast is one of the funnest driving experiences you'll have. I know that fun is a fairly subjective term but in this case it's nothing but a truth. If you hate OutRun 2006 Coast 2 Coast then you hate video games full stop

Test Drive Unlimited whilst being an inferior version to the one on PC and XBox 360 still had enough in it to keep me going for three months before I found it cheap on PC so maybe it will have the same effect on you.

SEGA Classics Collection, whilst being full of the D3 brand of budget remakes of arcade games (it includes that infamously bad Golden Axe remake) is worth the cheap price solely for Fantasy Zone. I mean it, it's very high quality. Other games of note are the OutRun remake which doesn't look too hot and he car is positioned differently on the screen to the original game but it fares surprisingly well. Virtua Racing is present and actually looks better to the original. Then there is the absolute diamond in the rough Alien Syndrome which PAL gamers missed out on but everyone else got.

If you can get the correct lightgun for your television Virtua Cop: Elite Edition brings back all of those high school memories of cutting class to go down to the video store and play on their arcade machines before they closed down. Wankers.

This has become a SEGA post so to break it up a bit you should get both Taito Legends discs because it's the very definition of value for money.

Yakuza. Guess it's a beat-em up/adventure game with minor RPG elements. The combat is diverse and extremely fun. It's one of few games with a contemporary urban setting, which it pulls off with some of the most impressive visuals on the PS2. I've yet to pick up the sequel but it's supposed to be a minor improvement.

I only had a PS2 for a bit more than a month, so I only played what I thought was essential.

My main recommendations are Killer7 and above all, Godhand. Then Ico and Katamary Damacy.

I haven't played them, but anyway I'll go ahead and recommend both Persona games, and Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Okami too.

I can vouch for Okami- it's a very fun Zelda-like game with gorgeous art direction and some decent tunes.

Now for some really weird-ass/craptastic games. If you're like me and have a preference for these, you'll eat them up. Otherwise, approach with caution:

Lifeline- Survival horror adventure game controlled almost entirely by voice commands. You play as a guy trapped in the operator's room on a space hotel. Monsters are attacking, your girlfriend's missing, and your only companion is the girl on the security monitors named Rio. You tell her what to examine, in old-school adventure game style, and also guide her in combat ("Shoot right arm! Shoot left eye! Reload!").

Disaster Report- another survival game, this one pits you against a sinking island. Kinda slow-paced and has its frustrating moments, but has some awe-inspiring moments, such as watching a building crash and send a massive tidal wave flying towards you.

Chulip- you haven't played weird games until you've played this. A "love RPG" of sorts, your character needs to become a better lover to grab the girl of his dreams. To do this, he must seduce and kiss every single person in the game, including (but not limited to) policeman, doctors, women, men, dogs, and a host of underground people. Seriously.

I'm sure that the Megaten ones are good. I've played the PSX Persona games, and the PS2 are considered better by everyone, literally. And I'm sure Okami must be good, although I've only seen one or two videos.

Soon I'll have a PS2 for good and play all those. But, first I'll replay Godhand.

Oh crap, how did I forget Okami. This was probably one my favorite games in a long time. You're a wolf god named Amaterasu who uses Japanese ink painting techniques to rescue a cursed world from the 8-headed serpent Orochi (and, er, other interestings from Japanese mythology). Along the way, you solve puzzles, paint trees back to life, help out villagers, and fight off the evil demons that plague the land.

The ink painting thing is really neat, and actually feels quite intiuitive for analog driven brush-strokes.

The art style is a really well done, with 3D models being stylistically rendered with ink and watercolor. It's cel-shaded, but very well executed, in my opinion. It's certainly a unique experience.

The soundtrack is also very catchy and epic.

The only thing that I can really cite as a complaint myself are the really annoying "voices", which are like 3 tones quickly alternating tones of gibberish.

A solid 40 hours. And it looks quite amazing on the PS2! It's definitely worth playing.

If you're into JRPGs, I have to recommend Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.

I have shit-ton of PS2 games to offload, now that I've sold my PS2, so let's see what I have here:

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas if only to hear Samuel L. Jackson be a BAMF yet again.
Resident Evil 4.
Final Fantasy XII.

Huh...I swore I had more. I have others, but nothing that I would recommend.

I am pretty sure that 100% of mainstream games are already recommended, so I'll just list some of my less known favorites.

- Őkami (it is typed with ~! Also, very Zelda-ish, IMHO better than any new LoZ. OK, not less known but I just had to mention it)

- Godhand (humorous and HARD beat-em-up)

- Way of the Samurai 2 (something like very, very small-scale samurai GTA. Main focus on collecting all swords, and there are at least OVER 9000 swords and other weapons)

- Demon Chaos (my words cannot express this awesomeness (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44KZ0neSz7E))

The Sly Cooper games.  At least the second and third ones.  Two of the best 3d platformers I've ever played.  (the first one was pretty good too, but didn't have the open feeling of the other two).

Chulip- you haven't played weird games until you've played this. A "love RPG" of sorts, your character needs to become a better lover to grab the girl of his dreams. I remember having to figure out just what the hell this game was by looking at the manual and screen shots in a class (the class was on game interface design...).  Even after seeing a gameplay video, I'm still not entirely sure what the hell was going on.

Yeah, the Sly series was pretty good.

Let's see... a weird PS2 game that is also good that hasn't been mentioned... hmm..

ATELIER IRIS 2.  Forget the rest of the series.  Now go forth and bake!  Bake!

The game is terrible, I never even finished it.  I did spend 80+ hours designing recipes for my stores, however.  So...strangely...addictive.

Yeah, Okami is a nice game but a bit straight in terms gameplay. Of course, there is this nice painting feature but everything else is just plain and not better than in other games. I got bored after beating Orochi for the third time ???

I'm going to suggest something noone else has: Castle Shikigami 2. The localizing team did a horrible job butchering the voice acting and story, but underneath that is a wonderful bullethell game from the Shikigami series - and the bad acting is due to it being a budget release: I got my copy for five bucks, NEW. Just know it's not an easy game; it's a proper Japanese arcade shmup, with all the brutal difficulty that entails.

Don't listen to Kekskiller, Ico will rock your damn sox off, son.

I don't think it is odd to get a PS2 now. I think in these times it is a very viable economic alternative to throwing $50-60 on the latest PS3/360 game. Much better imho to buy PS2 games at $5-15 a piece. Not to mention I am of the opinion that there isn't anything on the 360/PS3 that you can't find something equally as good (or better) or the PS2.

I have heard some people say that they have "played every good PS2 game" but I find that laughable. The system has had such a great, long life that there are bound to be many more games then just the 8.0's and beyond scores that Gamespot shits out on a regular basis. Yeah, God of War is good and so is Jak and Daxter etc..but there is a lot more variety then that.

here are just a few recommendation:

Shadow of the Colossus (as no doubt you have been repeatedly told by a crapload of people so far, but yes, it is good so listen to them!)

Ico (made by the same team as SotC and arguably the better game (depending on what you like I suppose) more puzzle/exploration based then SotC)

Beyond Good and Evil (action-adventure type game similar to Zelda in a lot of ways but a lot of fun)

Bully (a nice break from having to kill hookers and such, this is by rockstar but takes place on a high school campus with all the trimmings of high school antics)

Persona 3 (an excellent dungeon crawler with a very interesting story and characters, the dungeon crawl is very streamlined and takes away a lot of the feel of "endless grinding" that these types of games tend to suffer from)

Capcom vs SNK 2 (by far my favourite fighting game of all time. Great selection of chracter and beautifully rendered sprites)

These are just right off the top of my head, I am sure if I really got down to it I could think of a lot more. Like I said earlier take a look at stuff you usually wouldn't play. There a re a few game that surprised me on the PS2 that I am glad I took the time to play. (Persona 3 being one of these, and now that I think about it Killer 7 is also one).

Congrats on the new system and I hope you have a lot of fun with it :)

edit: btw, yes I know that most of the games I posted probably did get 80's and up on Gamespot. i am just making a point that I have played some games that were considered very bad and yet turned out to be very, very good (e.g. God Hand).

All three Ape Escape games are worth getting. Excellent platformers.

Buy it on craigslist. A lot of people bought the ps3 after they bought a ps2
(and don't care about having 100% compatibility), so you can find them for around $40-60 with two controllers.

If I can't revive my old ps2 to work with my mod-chip, I'm going to scrounge up the $45 and buy a slim ps2 off craigslist, then spend the extra $10 for the laser mod so the laser doesn't burn out. If you buy a later slim PS2 model (like the silver ones) they already have a fix in place.

Yeah, I can buy a brand-new PS2 for under a hundred bucks.  CANADIAN.

Clearly something is up at your store.

$138 is actually cheap. Last time I saw one in a store it was around $236.

Just using google product search (http://www.google.com/products?q=playstation+2&oe=UTF-8&price1=50.00&price2=100.00&sa=N&start=60) gives me a lot of consistant results for new ones at around $90 and used at $60.

Damn, I really should buy myself a PS2.  I never did own one.  I always bum one off my friends.

Now is the time to strike! :P

There's thousands of PS1 games you should probably try out as well, considering you've never had anything but Nintendo.

Final Fantasy Tactics springs to mind. If you can find a copy. GBA version was complete shit.

Weird. Memories of old games and childhood, this thread brings.

Anyway, there's my main suggestion. Try FF7 if you want to see where the giant jrpg fanbase in America really began. It's alright. But Tactics was something more. The story intrigued me greatly.

You'd need a PS1 memory card.

Oh, for Ps1 games, I'd suggest the Crash bandicoot trilogy, parappa the Rapper, And Spyro the Dragon: Ripto's Rage.

Games of my childhood. So many fun times!

If you're going PS1, I highly recommend Strider 2 and Umihara Kawase Shun.  The first Klonoa was a great game as well.

Of course, I play my PS1 games using my compy nowadays.  Eet lookz zo gut!

Castlvania: Symphony of The Night.

Playstation answer to Super Metroid, I guess.

Though the two endings struck me as kind of mean, when I was a kid. I got the first ending and ended up scratching my head at it, feeling like it was kind of a jip. Didn't know about the second until much investigation later.

Oh ps1 games now? I didn't play that many but I really like Brave Fencer Musashi and Star Ocean II. FFVII is obvious.

(I'm such a jrpg whore :durr:)

Symphony has like 4 or 5 endings I think, you gotta be up over 198 or 199% to get the real good ending though ;)  took me yeeears to find

Title: Re: Finally got a PS2
Post by: Aquin on July 27, 2009, 10:40:43 AM
At first I didn't know what was going on.  The ending seemed sorta lackluster and the game INSISTED I was only 48% complete.  It didn't take long to correct my oversight.

Yeah, the inverted castle is mind-blowing.  :wtf:

The best ending is not easy to get either.

Yeah, the max is 200.6% but that's sorta glitchy.  There are a lot of different things to find in that game... so full of secrets.

You just gotta beat the game at over 196% to get the best Alucard ending.

TOMBA and its sequel are great. Crash Team Racing is better than most kart racing games to this day.
Also, get a phat PS2 if anyone is looking to buy one. I've had mine since '02 and it hasn't shown any signs of age at all.

Shadow of the Colossus is quite a unique game, takes about 12 hours to beat, though it will have reached its peak at nr 12 of the 16 colossi.
If you want to get all the nuances out of it, play Ico beforehand, it's a 5 hour game, you'll have to play it in perspective though, but quite poetic in ways.
For both of these though, whether recommended or not, get m if you can, they are getting rarer and rarer these days.

SotC got a greatest hits release actually, so it's not TOO bad (or wasn't last time I checked).  Not sure about Ico though!

I have played through Ico and enjoyed it, but my interest in games have changed in such a way that, looking back at the game, I think I wouldn't have such a good time playing through it again. It was fun watching my sister play it though. She totally refused to get absorbed in the game and spent most of her time swearing at Yorda. If you want to play Ico, I recommend getting your hands on the european version. The USA version was a rushed release and is missing some of the content that is included in the european and japanese release. Plus the boxart for the USA version is uuuuuuuugly.

My favorite game for PS2 is properbly Kingdom Hearts 2. The story of the game not worth much but the combat is oh so satisfying. But a lot of people have already recommended that game so enough of that.

How about Shadow of Memories/Destiny? It's about a very girlish looking man that has to use a time machine to repeatedly stop his own murder.

I actually played the poorly ported PC version of Shadow of Memories/Destiny (Memories in Europe/Japan, Destiny in USA). It had two graphic options, low or high, and I never managed to find a way to make the high option clickable.

The game was also released for Xbox and is currently getting a re-release in Japan for the PSP, if anyone cares.

But I digress.

Also, can somenone say something about Jak? I have two first parts of Ratchet, and i'm now wondering should i go for the third one or maybe switch tracks a little.

My friend and I have a massive record on rolling size on the last level of We Love Katamari.

What amuses me is that we played the co-op mode where each person controls 1 side of the ball, so more often we would run into walls and shit instead of anything useful. but we practiced a bit and managed a size that I can't even beat in solo mode.

We Love Katamari is one of the most shockingly entertaining games to play with a friend.

shadow of memories is pretty cool, and the twist at the end HOLY FLIP. it was very slow paced though iirc. almost impossible to do unless you knew exactly where you were going. time paradoxing by visiting yourself in the coffee shop was fun.

also check out "free mcboot" if you are of dubious morality. ps2 soft-mod :')

Go to the third Ratchet, it's the best in the series. Also, skip the fourth. It didn't have the charm of the others.
The first and third Jak games are great. The second, controller-throwingly hard.

I have played the three first Jak & Daxter games but I have only beaten the third one. I read an interesting spoiler about the games and skipped to the third game to see how the spoiler would play out. By the the time I had finished Jak III, I realised that the scene I wanted to see was in the second game.
