Title: Wacom tablet troubles... Post by: Cerogravian on August 07, 2009, 01:18:28 PM Well now, not sure if this is the place to post about this, but I guess it's pretty general ::)
The thing is, I'm having a spot of trouble with my tablet (a Wacom Volito2), the tablet pen to be accurate: I just tried to change the tip, which had been worn down quite a bit, and then it wouldn't register any touches from the tip at all... The buttons still work, and it tracks the movement on the screen, I just can't use it as a pen. I've tried changing back to the worn tip, I've tried to check that everything is positioned correctly, and I really can't find what the problem is! Seeing that a large chunk of the TIGers here have their own tablets, and that I'm a bit desperate atm, I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or help? :beg: Thanks, please and free cookies offered as per usual. Title: Re: Wacom tablet troubles... Post by: Junkyard Sam on August 08, 2009, 10:51:34 AM It's PROBABLY an issue with your pen. Did you insert the new nib all the way in? Did you use an actual Wacom nib or did you do something crazy like put a toothpick in there?
You need to isolate whether it's a pen/hardware issue or software issue... Try your pen on a friend's wacom ... Try their pen on yours. And remember, pens for different series tablets proably won't work. (Intuos2 pen won't work with Intuos3, etc.) Good luck. If all else fails you can probably get a nice Intuos model from Ebay if you buy carefully. I sold two nearly new Intuos2 wacoms and it was disturbing at how little they went for... Like $60 for my 6x8 and $85 for my 9x12, so you can definitely find a good deal on there for a nice tablet. Title: Re: Wacom tablet troubles... It's an issue with the pen itself, yeah. I used a real Wacom nib, and it's inserted properly as far as I can tell - I've tried and retried several times... I'm pretty sure it's just a hardware issue, like I said it still works like it used to in all other respects except for the nib, and it worked perfectly before I tried to switch. I know most of the products aren't compatible across versions, and I don't know anyone else with my model :( I mostly posted to see if anyone else have experience with this problem, and knows an easy fix or tweak, mostly so I could decide if I should just give up and buy a new one or keep hoping... I'll try some more tinkering, then I'll just search for a new one I guess :'( Thanks again! Title: Re: Wacom tablet troubles... Post by: xerus on August 09, 2009, 01:07:38 AM Um, you can always call Wacom before you set off on an investment of a new one. I had a tablet that broke a looong time ago, the pen was busted. I called them up and they sent me a new pen after I sent them the broken one. It was a good time.
