I'm looking for a quality, good-looking, free and awesome Tetris game. Erm, I could google this but I will never find what I want. So, does anyone know where I can find a quality Tetris game? Most stuff I found is simple, ugly shit. Tetris actually IS simple, but most interpretations are somewhat ugly to look at. Eye candy!

Yeah, Tetris Friends is pretty awesome and it's official Tetris. There's also a nice collection of different kinds of Tetris.

I have a friend who plays Tetris Friends. He has a few gripes with it, but he said he does like it! It's probably worth a shot.

I already played Stacker but it's really not my type of game. I like Stalker, I like Tetris, but I never acquired a taste for Stacker.

Problem with Tetris DS is that you can infinitely rotate the tetrominoes and they don't lock. :/
If you are into homebrew stuff, then there's Lockjaw. Nice thing about Lockjaw is that you can customize it to be the way you want it to be.

I ended up playing Tetris Friends for like an hour and then registering.

It's times like this when I consider giving up game design, since the best game ever already exists.

No kidding!  I've been playing it now ever since I read about it here.

Sonofa... I'm already rank 12 after 14 games, but I really need it to get harder.  I even managed to get over 700k in the marathon on the first try.  I'm hoping it gets a lot tougher.

How exactly do you fight specific people in Tetris Friends?  I can't find a button for it and I can't seem to see anyone that's playing either.

After playing Sprint, I've come to the unsettling conclusion that all my opponents are AI generated.

Tetris friends records people's plays on the randomized seed and pits them against each other, that's why you can pause it. Its technically solo, but it's based on others play styles.

But is there any way to fight someone specifically?  Of course it's still in beta, that feature might come later.

Well at least for now we can compete on the Leaderboard. I'm currently #38 today for a Marathon run. A shitty one at that, I'll try again later. Only ever made it to #1 once, but boy was that a good day.

Huh. Wonder what the demographics are for Tetris Friends. I rarely play tetris, but I got first place in the first game I played  :facepalm:

you'll get to rank 2 or 3 quickly and later when you'll press 'quick play' you'll be matched with worthy opponents

I prefer TetriNET (http://en.tetrinet.no/blocktrix-page-7.php) for head-to-head gameplay. It certainly isn't as "friendly" as friends!  :lol:

apparently all the pros i.e record holders play the lockjaw  (http://www.pineight.com/lj/)variant because of its customization ability.
