Title: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: gunswordfist on December 01, 2009, 09:25:56 AM Here's another gift from neogaf:
Quote from: Nirolak Well, it seems Brink was delayed until Fall 2010, but they did decide to release the first ingame footage. Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: Shade Jackrabbit on December 01, 2009, 01:09:15 PM That movement system looks like it will end up incredibly broken, with the game misinterpreting or ignoring many commands.
Just sayin' I'm very skeptical until I see unsolicited YouTube videos of people freerunning in this game. Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: gunswordfist on December 01, 2009, 02:49:22 PM Well only time will time. I hopeful for now.
Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: Zhal on December 02, 2009, 03:29:44 PM I'm not that much impressed. Well, the technology might be pretty impressive, if it works properly, but I don't like it when you can't do all those stuff yourself. :/
Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: William Broom on December 02, 2009, 07:48:19 PM I doubt it will work like that in the end. Bethesda always talk a lot of bullshit about their games before they release.

Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: PGGB on December 03, 2009, 08:29:54 AM I love the art direction, but I'm more sceptical about the gameplay. If they get it to work though I'll be right on board.

According to the dude in the video, you have to press a button to activate that kind of movement. I really like the concept of it though. Kind of like a first-person Assassin's Creed with a little more precision in freerunning, then? The whole freerunning craze seems to be the 'big thing' of the late 00s in gaming to me. :)

Fallout 3 functioned like that and it did so pretty well, so I don't see why Bethesda can't bring forth another title with both genres included.
Other than that, the SMART system seems like an interesting concept for an FPS game. It looks like we may see many hybrid RPG/FPS games in the future. Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: gunswordfist on December 03, 2009, 05:35:32 PM Well I say we could use all the good FPS RPGs we can get.
Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: William Broom on December 03, 2009, 06:48:30 PM it's developed by splash... ??? I don't know why I thought it was developed by Bethesda...Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: The_Flying_Dove on December 03, 2009, 07:45:16 PM One FPS/RPG hybrid that I'm really looking forward to is a single-player only game called Metro 2033. It seems like it will be the next Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. The gas mask, conservation of ammo, and unique HUD make the gameplay sound promising. And, for once in a long while, this might be one of those well written FPSs.
Oh, and one more thing to go a bit off-topic, which is that Rogue Warrior the game is so bad. Just check out a video review of it at GiantBomb.com, or simply read about it on GameSpot. Bethesda and Rebellion really ****** up that game. Yeah. While I think that the SMART system may make Brink more interesting, I can't make my mind up about getting the game or even playing it at all until I've seen more aspects of the gameplay and the story. And now realizing that Bethesda messed up on Rogue Warrior, it actually makes me feel more worried about this game. I will need Bethesda to work that much harder before it actually can impress me at all. Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: William Broom on December 03, 2009, 08:18:46 PM Oh, I see, they're publishing it. Well I guess that means they can't have that much of an influence on the game itself, right?
Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: The_Flying_Dove on December 04, 2009, 12:03:55 AM I've managed to find more footage on Brink, which actually comes from E3 2009. But it is much better than the recent footage that we got about the SMART system. There are three other videos, which can be found here:
http://www.gametrailers.com/game/brink/11373 There are three parts to a level called Container City. They really show off the innovative features that makes this game different from the other FPSs out there. Now that I have seen more footage, I think that the game looks promising, especially as a hybrid one. Here's hoping that we'll seeing many FPSs go RPG in the future, especially if it helps flesh out their narrative and the realism that is found within them. Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: gunswordfist on December 04, 2009, 08:25:28 AM I'll have to check out what I can on that Metro 2033 game.
Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: Shade Jackrabbit on December 04, 2009, 01:48:01 PM Yeah I have to say, those other videos do make it look pretty decent. They do seem to be putting emphasis on stuff other than the free-running, and that's more of just one feature among many.
I'll keep an eye on it at least. Might as well put that IGN account to good use. Title: Re: Brink Delayed Until Fall 2010, First Ingame Footage Post by: Caio on December 04, 2009, 05:20:06 PM I really dig the art style.
