Title: Video game gift thread
Post by: Seth on December 03, 2009, 07:57:07 PM
The holidays are coming!  Post here if you're looking for suggestions on what video game to get someone!

My brother has a Wii, but hasn't gotten any games since Zak and Wiki.  Are there any really great games that have come out since then that I should get him?  He never got No More Heroes in the first place, should I get him that?

Little King's Story! It's like Pikmin meets Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon and it's excellent. Metroid Prime trilogy is really good as well. Does he have Super Mario Galaxy?

I gotta recommend New Super Mario Bros. Wii for the multiplayer.

Oh yeah, NSMBW is a given if you own the console. Torchlight because it's been proven a complete time sink on people I know. People should also just go browse GOG and buy whatever their mouse pointer lands on but that's just too easy.

buy people indie games, it's a more unique gift than typical games, and you can buy them like 15 of them for the price of 2 mainstream games

Throw a bit of Zelda in there too, but anyway, I second that recommendation.

I ignored Little King's Story for a long time because the cover art makes it look like one of those shovelware games for kids (same problem as Zack and Wiki, oddly enough) and now I'm absolutely hooked.
