dude. i have a tattered notebook from when i was 16 on a card-based combat system, if you ever need anybody to banter ideas back and forth with let me know.

if you haven't already, i'd check out the 'jobs' subforum to scope out possible artistes.

that concept art is really rad, as is your pixels

i'd check out obake as reference, it's another indie kirby-like
http://playthisthing.com/obake

will this be harder than kirby? i love the concept but dream land for game boy was the only one that really held my attention, and i was like eight at the time.

there's rumblings on the net that this is going to be the last generation of sustainable handhelds, especially with the advent of android/ip_d. shame really, i've always loved portable gaming since i was three.

that sums up the thread rather nicely, actually.

i honestly didn't know about this thing till i read the select button thread re: handhelds

neither handheld excites me yet, but psp hooked me in with monster hunter 2 so i won't say no to sony yet. that and 3ds bores me too. cynicism fuck yah

not only does nintendo have to hold your hand, they waggle it throughout the entire experience. at least the soda minigame in mario party was honest.

Isn't the fag argumentation process just wonderful!

Oh baby, you don't have to pretend anymore. You know you want me.

shig, if I'm arsed to I might do a couple refutations of the indie games he scrutinized recently and post them somewhere online; I'll message you them first before I post them anywhere else.

I also have to get around to breaking down Super Mario Bros' level design. hmm.
370  Developer / Technical / Re: RPG combat equation? on: January 28, 2011, 08:45:21 AM
(player strength)
divided by
(player strength + enemy strength)

so if the player is 5, enemy is 5: 5/10 = 50% chance

if the player is 4, enemy is 8 4/12 = 33% chance

and so on. It's basic enough that anybody who went through middle school could get a rough estimate on if they'll hit or not. Maybe if you use this above approach and have strength bound between 1-10 it could work. or something.

icy has the occasional good opinion, but a lot of what he says is bullshit masked by his whole 'FAGOT' persona. if i gave a flying fuck i'd debunk some of insomnia's recent stuff, but it honestly isn't worth my time.

jwk5 is certainly more of a gentleman than most people in this thread. It sort of brings the asshole out in everybody (me included) involved. The original topic is long dead, maybe we could make threads in Design on any topics we'd want to continue discussing. For me at least there's a stigma in engaging discourse in here.

i'm not digging the negative vibe, maaaan
