I guess the writers did know that they only had one episode left after all... They had a plan.

A simple platformer that uses ChevyRay's cave generation algorithm.

This is starting to feel familiar

EDIT: You press Esc to go to the main menu, from there you can quit the game.

I see the title of the game, but no menu.

You links are broken. change

to

url=http://www.box.net/index.php?rm=box_download_shared_file&file_id=f_260097040&shared_name=1ybkt7k9zi

The game itself has a lot of potential, but it seems a bit off or buggy in some places. Neither alt-f4 nor the x closes the game. I also ran into a problem in the first room with the spike pit. Is there a way to make the NPC stop moving? Otherwise it always tries to follow me over the spike pit and dies before I can get to the switch.

I don't know that you can use the constructor if you don't use a pointer. I guess I've never really thought about it though. If I were using the constructor I would do

Game* game = new Game();

Second Law Games comes from the thermodynamics one.

Lugaru is supposed to have Linux version, but I never got the demo to run properly.
608  Player / General / Re: You have to correct the English on: March 17, 2009, 08:26:19 PM
This reminded me that I'm looking for a text-heavy game auf Deutsch.  If anyone could point me to some of these (preferably indie), I would give you five bags of candy.

Not ALL that text heavy, but I think 5 Days a Stranger has a German translation. Maybe some of its sequels, too.
I may try this out as well. I took a few years in high school, but NMT cut all the language classes before I got around to taking it here.

As for English, it really does have a lot of strange little rules that you can miss if you're not paying attention. I managed to keep up with most of those in school, but I never figured out how to use "whom."

You deserve to succeed. Let's hope the world continues to agree.

I think the difficulty is just fine for the Fire Cage boss. The problem is the repetition. It's like Monster X: instead of restarting the boss fight immediately after you die, you have to go through a long segment of platforming where it's easy to take damage that can cause problems with the boss. The same is true of the ninja. Maybe some sort of temporary autosave would fix the frustration problem without affecting the difficulty too much.

The cloud run boss is still challenging with the save point right before it. If that save point weren't there it would be frustrating, but not significantly more challenging.

W?
I am joking. In reality, I don't know any good underdog movies.

And because of that I'm actually going to feel a twinge of guilt when buying Night Game, and that's just terrible!  Cry
I felt that way at first, but Nifflas is still the person making the game, and I think it would be a bit insulting to refuse to play it just because of Nicalis.

Yeah, I figured as much  Wink

maybe adding linux support would be a good contribution, although I'm brushing up (no pun) on my pixel art skills atm.
Linux support is unfortunately not possible with Game Maker, but I'm sure it could run using Wine.
Past builds have worked perfectly in wine as long as you don't mind using only the upper left corner of the screen (nothing gets cut off, though).

Also happens to be my birthday!
It's also the day after my sister's birthday. Apparently near pi day is a popular day to be born on.

Here's a quick recording of the plungerphone. It's actually pretty close to being a sine wave in some places.

This is a flag I made for pi day a few years ago.

Will post plungerphone audio in the FuTuRe.
617  Player / General / Re: TIGer DIY on: March 11, 2009, 10:36:59 PM
the PLUNGERPHONE is capable of producing multiple distinct harmonics and is played with any mouthpiece that will fit 1.4" copper tubing (e.g. a horn mouthpiece).

This is a basic POTATO CANNON made for a friend.

These are TRIBBLES made exclusively for ME.

Soon to follow: parts of multiple unfinished coilguns, an upgraded (not yet silenced) nite finder nerf gun, deformed models of a crystal lattice made out of steel BBs, and much more all in one picture!

This is very nice. I've spent months working on algorithms with similar ideas but never managed to come up with something so simple nor so effective.

Edit: A quick python implementation of your algorithm made this in a matter of seconds. It's already much closer a decent 2d platformer cave than anything of my algorithms, and it runs hundreds of times more quickly.

That's never happened to me before. I've heard of it, but I guess I always thought it was just a myth like Chicago and Marie Winston Baker. This... this changes everything...

I'm sorry to ask this so late, but is it possible to make fullscreen optional? I tried fixing this myself, but couldn't seem to find the files to linking lua.
there isn't a lua option for it, but...hmm...ok here's a binary compiled in windowed mode for windows...just for you, baby...
Thank you. Hopefully someone else will find it useful as well.

I haven't finished it yet, but so far it's really great in a lot of ways. Thanks again for making the windowed version.
