Super Robot Wars, the best srpg series

the secret is that its actually a mediocre srpg but since there are licensed giant robots in it  it is still super enjoyable

Gunleon is more of an homage to GaoGaiGar, but yes his final super attack has that OBVIOUS EVANGELION REFERENCE yes

it still manages to be its own robot and its one of the coolest around

i know they gave this guy a little girl because they thought he wouldnt be popular otherwise despite being the coolest pilot/giant robot guy in super robot wars so i assume it's the same in your non robot animes
