I grew up with microwaved turkey bacon over the "real" stuff. I was surprised to find out how crispy pan-fried bacon was on a scout camping trip. I still kind of prefer turkey bacon, actually. It's been a long time since I've had it, though.
Today I found a 17" HP LCD screen at a thrift store for $20. I pulled out the cheap Geforce 210 I was using for a while before I could afford a mid-range GPU, stuck it in the second PCIe slot, and now I have a three-monitor setup right now. I took a moment to laugh maniacally. It was great.
The Deseret Industries thrift store here in Provo is amazing, so far 2 of 3 screens came from there, totaling a cost of $45. I've also found an M-Audio Keystation 49e USB MIDI controller for $8 there.
Seriously, find out what the good thrift stores and flea markets are around you and frequent them every now and then, and you'll find some amazing stuff for great prices.

Decrease in battery life
A 3DS with the notoriously power-hungry 3D effect ramped all the way up can last three hours; DS compatibility mode will run for eight, easily. That's on a fully-featured portable console with some unusually battery-intensive features; a controller doesn't need anything like that sort of functionality and will inevitably have lower power requirements. Besides, if you've been playing a game for eight straight hours and have to stop because your controllers carked it, I personally think you've probably been done a favour. The problem here is actually remembering to charge the controller, and how many times you can use the system without having to locate battery chargers, plugging it in, etc. Durability issues - I doubt an LCD screen will be able to handle the kind of abuse the average game controller goes through
Yeah? What about every single portable console in gaming history? Controllers get manhandled (and sometimes thrown) a lot, but they don't have to withstand stresses like being tumbled around in a backpack or shoved into a pocket on the bus. If you're routinely subjecting a game controller to the sort of assaults that are likely to break a modern LCD screen, you are absolutely Doing It Wrong. Shoving a system into a backpack is much less stressful than a rage-quit or accidental drop. For one, the forces are generally along the sides of a system and not directly against the screen portion. Cell phone screens, for example, are usually broken when the person drops their phone onto a hard surface and not while the phone is in a pocket.

Then Sony makes our generation's Colecovision controller, Microsoft the Atari 5600, and we've come full circle.

Here are a few reasons I highly doubt that the controls will have touchscreens: Increased controller cost Decrease in battery life Durability issues - I doubt an LCD screen will be able to handle the kind of abuse the average game controller goes through No tactile feedback - you'll have to keep looking at the controller to be sure you're touching the right part Motion control - see Sixaxis Backwards compatibility The 3DS already exists
I'd rather see a more ergonomic Wiimote+Nunchuck thing with better button placement and an analog joystick added to the main unit.

I suspect farce-aspect of the film is impossible to avoid. Think of it this way: how many war-movies do you know that don't glorify war?
Empire of the Sun The Diary of Anne Frank Letters From Iwo Jima Barefoot Gen Grave of the Fireflies It's been a while since I've seen most of those, but I remember coming away from them with the impression of how horrible war is.

Compare the technical specifications of a TI graphing calculator and those of any other computer/phone device of the same price.

anyone think it's weird that it's been 10 years and the average cpu clock cycle has remained between 2 and 3 ghz? i remember when every year it'd be a jump -- 33 mhz to 66 to 133 to 266 etc. etc.
Processors are still improving at an insane rate, though. They haven't physically changed size in ten years, but would you have imagined ten years ago that the little chip could hold eight individual processor cores? I remember getting my first dual core. Just one additional core alone improved my computer's performance levels more than a previous change in core speed. Man, I also remember when the idea of the graphics card having it's own dedicated processor was revolutionary. That only happened no more than eight years ago, didn't it?

The Wii Tuu will bring back the ROB peripheral as ROB 9000. His primary function, aside from voice interaction and a highly advanced logic processor, will be to control the revolutionary force feedback body suit that the user wears to experience lifelike interactivity. He can also aid you in diagnosing trouble with the system's WiFi communications system.

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T RAM: 8gb DDR3 1600 (4x2gb) GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 HDD: 2x 300gb Samsungs in a mirrored RAID array.
Though only a few months ago it was only a ASUS Fatality SLI with a 2000mhz dual-core Athalon x64 with 3 gigs of ram and a GeForce 7600, but the 6-year-old motherboard died, and then the video card did, so I had to upgrade. I should be good for another 6 years now, at least.
Monitors: 19" Samsung SyncMaster 970p Some old 15" Apple Display LCD I got for $20 at a thrift store. It has video inputs so I can hook game systems up to it. :D Keyboard is a deteriorating Logitech G15 Mouse is a Logitech M-5?? Case: Antec P160 There's also a pair of Noctua fans in there. I hate having computers that sound like vacuum cleaners.
