Some things I've been working on, also i like recording gifs:

Bouncy things, not all that original but a fundamental part of platforming I think.

Turtle-like creature with wind coming out of his shell. ( I know about that bug with the red bird there, and it's already fixed.)

Now to move on to the more complex and fun level elements.

Fifth, you are so good at animal-mations.

This is why you should get an artist you know in real life, like i do. That way if they don't do their work I can talk to them in real life. Or tell our mom.
384  Player / Games / Re: Ridiculously hard indie games with double jumping on: October 28, 2009, 08:49:21 AM
Super Mario Brothers for the NES, dunno if you've heard of it.

Mario is not an indie game, you can't double jump (unless you consider double jumping to be allowing the player to jump more than once total in the game), it's not hard (at least for people with two thumbs and a couple eyeballs), and it certaintly isn't ridiculous.

THE REST OF YOU MIGHT AS WELL QUIT NOW.

But what good is an unearned crown? And what fun is an IGF without winning?

Alright well the reason it isn't going as fast as it should, from what I read, is that most browsers don't support really low frame delays. The delay should be fine if you were to open it up in another program. I am going to try fixing the recording methods so it throws out a few frames so it can play faster at a lower frame rate.

I recently made an in game movie recorder to record a series of bitmaps to later put in either a gif or a video file, though I can't figure out how to increase the framerate of the gif files so it's running pretty slow. Anyone know if that's even possible?

This clip here shows the particle effect's for Rake's sucking in and blowing out power that I added in today.
388  Player / General / Re: How old are you? on: October 23, 2009, 06:06:41 PM
i'm 19. in a month i will be 20. a year ago i was 18 and the year before that i was only 17! I figured out this equation one time when I was bored to calculate my age during any given year: my age = current year - 1989.

390  Developer / Technical / Re: Working on ball bounce physics. on: October 22, 2009, 02:56:40 PM
Not sure if this is what you mean, but if you want it to bounce off a wall, just multiply the velocity in the collision direction by -1. If you are asking about how to bounce it off of the 'bar' you control at different speeds, multiply the velocity of the ball by some sort of scalar obtained from the distance to the center of the paddle.

392  Player / Games / Re: Indie Piracy Must Stop, NOW on: October 22, 2009, 09:13:28 AM
I don't think anyone here is going to disagree with you on that one. I hate piracy, and never pirate indie games. Instead I find it easier (and more rewarding) to break into their house and steal their cash and other valuables. One time I even got this one dev's cat. Oh man, he still has posters up looking for that thing. Well you are NEVER getting that cat back, buddy.

I have a little secret about that thread...i never posted in it ever.
394  Developer / Design / Re: Disappointing final bosses on: October 21, 2009, 08:50:16 PM
It's tough to read this thread without having played every single game ever made because I might accidently read something about the end of a game i haven't played yet.

I never really liked any of the ending bosses in the megaman X series, they are usually just simple repeating patterns that take forever and make your thumbs hurt by the end of it. And how many times to you have to fight the same ending boss in the series?

The Zombies Ate My Neighbors boss sucks too. A big floating head, real scary.

I would think you'd want the name before the link, at least that makes more sense to me.

Hmmm, i think you may be talking about this book i saw once entitled "An Architect's Complete Guide To Everything Relating to Architecture (Just Kidding It's About Video Games)"
397  Player / General / Re: Independent Game Developers You Should Hate on: October 20, 2009, 05:42:43 AM
I thought we had subforums to keep this kind of shit out of General.

General has long been lost. We should have some sort of hidden General forum that only a selected elite have access to, so we can be silly and random in an educated and intellectual way.

Have you ever thought that the high post count requirement for the secret forums is not meant as a  reward for posting a lot, but a defense mechanism to protect people who don't want to read and write thousands of useless posts a day, people who only read threads that are about something, and only post when they have something to contribute to the topic at hand? That's what I always thought anyway.
398  Player / General / Re: Independent Game Developers You Should Hate on: October 19, 2009, 12:01:57 PM
i think alec had more to do with banning super joe than melly did -- after he asked "why isn't super joe banned yet?" derek did it immediately

So are you trying to say that alec is weilding power over tigsource through some sort of puppet regime?
399  Feedback / DevLogs / Re: Grand Feather on: October 19, 2009, 09:11:06 AM
Thanks for the kind words guys, it's really encouraging. We are nearing 1 year in development time (though, we weren't able to work on it a month or two), and most of that time was spent just developing the basic game system and figuring out how we want the game and the story to go. Most of that stuff is done now so we are mainly going to be pumping out new content for the game so we thought it would be an interesting time for a devlog. Everything is really coming together and moving along very quickly so there will most likely be a lot of updates so keep watching this thread and our blog if you are interested. We are also going to be looking for some beta testers to help us out so make sure you let us know if you want to do that.  Wizard Hand Thumbs Up Right

Thanks for posting up that link to the video, Inanimate, must've forgot to post that in the OP. We will probably have another, better, video up soon that actually shows the different kinds of companions in action, which is what the gameplay is focused around.
400  Developer / Technical / Re: LETS MAKE AN AI THAT WRITES CODE!! on: October 18, 2009, 09:17:39 AM
If you write AI so good that it designs and creates code for it's own game, is that game still technically made by you?
