What is wrong with ridiculing a stupid act? two reasons i can think of. first is that it doesn't really change anything -- he's not going to stop being who he is just cause some random internet people tell him he's dumb. second is that often people and society aren't very good at determining which acts are stupid and which aren't (for instance, copernicus, slavery, etc.) -- i think the best policy is to just let people do whatever they want so long as it doesn't hurt anyone (and this didn't hurt anyone), since we never know if what they're doing may actually do good even though we think it doesn't So do you think Mipey should adopt your policy or just do whatever he wants?

I simply walked out of that bubble. I probably could have left Muslim Massacre on the net forever, but it was complicated by a huge number of issues. Oh darn that bubble.

Pangolins are possibly my favourites animal. They can walk on their hind legs and are just plain awesome. If only someone would put those in a game. Also yes. Maybe possibly not my most favoritest favorite animal, but certainly my favorite. Though I didn't realize exactly how awesome they are until you posted that and I started youtubing for them. Oh my.

You're a funny character and obviously a smart person. Which is why I'm not sure why your posting pattern is to look for a thread where people are praising one thing and then posting the opposite opinion just for troll's sake. And in this thread he called Megaman 2.5D a valiant attempt at making Megaman not bad.

[Off topic: Is there a way to view .PPTs without MS Office? Not sure if i've read that paper before but can't check it now..] OpenOffice. OpenOffice is not my favorite program or whatever. Also, if you're on a Windows machine, I suppose you can use this thing instead. And here is some more information about viewing .PPT files.

Uh.
Wasn't DOOM the FPS game that added the strafe left/right keys? Like, in Wolfenstein 3D, we can only switch between strafing and turning by holding some strafe key, but in DOOM we can configure the controls to some dandy WASD+mouse setup.

Those are awesome. I like robots now.
I hope we just decide that that's good enough and start having human-size servant robots in every home that walk around like that and fall over all the time.

It probably outputs a pony or a giraffe or something in ASCII art or something if you use Perl to run it.

Yes, I agree with that. But I don't think the existence of borderline cases makes the genres themselves less distinct, just like the existence of "blue-green" doesn't make "blue" indistinct. That's what I meant anyway. That if blue and green are defined so that some colors are both blue and green, then blue and green are not distinct categories. So yeah. If that's not what you meant, ignore what I said. I don't really follow though: I don't think jRPG is a distinct genre either, even though I like them. [...] it's pretty distinctly a jRPG.

I'd go for fairly broad genres if I wanted to cover some ground with 8 options. Depends on what you mean by distinct For every genre there are games where either they belong to it and to some other genre, or where it is not clear whether or not they belong to the genre. E.g. "So is Fallout 3 a FPS, a third-person shooter, or an RPG?"

I remember that me and friends described FPS games as "games where you see what you would have seen if you were the guy in the game", or something to that effect (and in a different language, etc.). "FPS" is pretty convenient. "DOOM-clone" would have been too, I guess.
Also I don't have a favorite genre, although I like some better than others and so on.

Saying "these comments aren't as bad as what I usually see" isn't an attack on those comments. I can't really think of any other way to read the first part of that comment of yours than as you saying that those two comments are contributing to making TIGSource a place to bash indie games. Which sounds like an attack on those comments. Like, at the very least, it's not that odd that you have to explain it a few times. (and for the record I think it's just dandy to attack those two comments anyway) Side note: the 8 page long "Biggest letdown upon picking up a new game" thread is heelarious what with all the "anti-negativity" stuff going on.

Oh come on. But who are you making your games for?
myself Im making games for you guys… im an entertainer im giving you free entertainment, no ones paying to play this game. Eli and i spent 3 months of our lives working on this game as a gift to people who appreciate innovative and indie video games asking for nothing in return, in what way have we upset you to the point of wanting to bash the game? It'd be easier to agree or disagree with what people were arguing if you got an impression of just what that was from reading their posts. Most everything in this thread just comes off as if people are making up arguments to support their points as fast as possible, because that's how you win internet debates or whatever. Like, but there no way in hell id go up to someone who does music for a living and give them my opinions about how to make their music better... because im not a fool, i realize that no matter how much i think i know about something i dont know shit till ive actually done it. Which is cool and everything. But like, at least be aware of that it contradicts the whole "well if they had offered some advice on how to make the game better/constructive criticism it would have been dandy" thing that some people are going on about here...
