By the way guys, in case you didn't hear, the health bill got unpassed

Now it has to go through the Senate and the House again.

It's hard to tell if all those people just bought the game because it was Cave Story, or because they genuinely felt it was worth the purchase. Much like movies, the first weekend is usually product of hype. Lets see how the game holds up over the next weeks.
Hey, Nicalis did their job. Cave Story Wii's been circulating on all the well-to-do gaming websites. I doubt anybody who keeps up on things was unaware of it being released, and it's likely the most popular indie game already (not the best, in my opinion, mind you, but basically everybody knows about it).

EDIT: ahahahahahah

From Nicalis, in the above article: '"Cave Story hit number 1 on the Wii Shop Store Top 20," boasts Nicalis. "It’s all thanks to everyone."'

It's all thanks to everyone. I should say that more often.

I've seen a trailer today and the music is TERRIBLEEE.
Lies and slander.

La Mulana Wii looks and sounds like pretty much the best game ever. Aaaargh I need a Wii now

If I began exploring modes and received a heavy spoiler, I might not even care (Oh, it's that rabbit thing I fought in the Boss Rush/It's that stage from the Time Attack), but that's the problem. It makes you care less. It detracts from the experience.
Now I have to ask why you decided to play BOSS RUSH which definitely contains EVERY BOSS IN THE MAIN STORY before playing the main story.  Huh?

Or, more specifically, why you were surprised that playing through all the bosses spoiled some of the storyline.

What vexes me about this is that the decision being lambasted isn't about the game's design- it's a business measure made by the business people with the legal rights of the game.

If it were something like "Nicalis decided to change the graphics from silhouettes to a more gritty style" or "Nicalis has rejected some of the puzzles because it thinks they are too hard", that might be a basis for some righteous indignation. No indication has been given of Nifflas' game being tampered with in any way, though.

Nifflas is the developer, and it seems to be that he is in full control of developing the game. Nicalis is the publisher, and it looks like they're in full control of publishing the game. What is the problem with this?

I don't give a shit about the game, the collection of pictures on the first page are hilarious.

That might just be because I've been awake for the last 24 hours, though  Crazy

I would personally recommend waiting for La Mulana.

Respect for the creator?

You can't buy the game at all if you don't have a Wii, which as I understand it is a common case amongst Nifflas's fans.
I like to think that Night Game won't be purchased solely by long-running fans.
350  Player / Games / Re: Nicalis on: March 24, 2010, 07:33:24 PM
I'm willing to wait until Night Game and La Mulana are actually released to make any judgments.

Cave Story was hardly botched, either- localization and sound seem to be the primary issues, and the game has been out for a grand total of... less than a week. Considering that the game is on one of the big three consoles, I doubt a patch will be hitting instantly.

I'm beginning to think the "Grand Ole' Party" is nearing its end.

The Democrats need at least one serious opposing party to keep their bullshit in check, but the Republicans just aren't up to the task anymore. I feel like there used to be a moral structure to the GOP, but it's all collapsed into childish resentment, obvious lies, and blatant hypocrisy.

That's not to say that the Democrats aren't experiencing unprecedented dithering, futile kowtowing, and partisan arrogance right now, but at least I can still glimpse the slightest coherency to their mission statement.

More people are going to go into poverty from the jobs this bill will destroy
Could you back this statement up?  Undecided
352  Player / Games / Re: Cave Story Wii on: March 22, 2010, 11:46:20 PM
Huzzah!  Grasstown!  and so forth.  Hell, I see people saying "huzzah!" all the time in indie circles.
I'm damn near certain that this is DeceasedCrab's fault, not AGTP.

Despite the fact that they already had something perfect, they just took it and made it worse for seemingly no reason.
This assertion requires that the original translation be perfect, and the new translation be worse, neither of which are necessarily true.

You know guys, nostalgia was so much better in the old days...
353  Player / Games / Re: Cave Story Wii on: March 22, 2010, 06:37:55 PM
nostalgia cost this game.
Well, it's not exactly identical to the original, so bitches gonna bitch. Nothing wrong with the game, mind you. Balrog is something that he didn't say in the unofficial translation, though, and the music is in a different style, so I guess that makes it guillotine time.

This reminds me of the La Mulana Wii trailer and the people who got hung up on the number of coins received from one of the pots in the trailer. It's best to ground your blind hatred in at least the slightest portion of reality, people.
354  Player / General / Re: So the Health Care bill passed. on: March 22, 2010, 04:05:06 AM
it still remains a fact that the majority of people over there are uneducated, politically confused suckers. Giving Bush the presidency not once, but twice. That's a track record USA will have a hard time making up for.
But... Obama! Forgive us! Please!  Beg
355  Player / General / Re: So the Health Care bill passed. on: March 22, 2010, 02:43:29 AM
ALSO: Speaking of being an Australian, can someone explain specifically (and in some detail) why so many people are against* the whole nationalised healthcare thing?
Fox News. Period.

Plus, remember that what you hear about us wacky Americans... you get primarily from the news. The same news that is pushing their edge on things in the first place. I promise we're not actually all that stupid.
356  Player / General / Re: So the Health Care bill passed. on: March 22, 2010, 01:52:43 AM
The compulsory insurance coming with the health care bill isn't for the protection of others, it's just big brother deciding he knows how you should spend your money better than you do.

There's no good reason for it.  It's only being done so the government can take more of your money and so they can claim that their bill increases the number of people who have health insurance.
What compulsory insurance?
357  Player / General / Re: So the Health Care bill passed. on: March 22, 2010, 01:03:59 AM
Cthulu32: It's not government-run health care! It's just a public option, with the private industry still allowed to function (although admittedly with some changes).

America's finest news sources all contributed to successfully removing any understanding of the bill from, well, anybody. On the other hand, the politicians seemed to their damned best to make the fucking thing unreadable in the first place.  Facepalm

I would feel better if the left weren't being at least as idiotic about this as the right is. Sometimes I get the feeling that Obama's the only one putting serious effort into all of this.

Still, I think this is a step in the right direction, considering that America has basically the shittiest health care worldwide right now.
358  Player / General / Re: Switzerland is banning violent video games? on: March 22, 2010, 12:56:44 AM
I'm sort of amused that a country that does perfectly fine with one of the highest militia gun ownership rates worldwide would suddenly get stingy about violent video games. Shouldn't they know better?
359  Player / General / Re: I've Changed My Avatar. on: March 20, 2010, 10:33:05 PM
But please people. At least if you change to something completely new, put up your old avatar. Please?
Whoops, good point. I've got all the avatars from my most recent computer saved, at least.

Wait, that one was something else.  Droop

Booyah.

I have no idea who all you people are this way WTF
Hey, hey. I've pointedly stuck to a whole motif for my entire stay here, thank you very much. Wizard
