Back to my traditional avatar choosing method.
That is to say, googling "dolphin" and picking the first interesting image I see.

Logic failure.
He's saying that he couldn't dodge some of the obstacles that show up without somehow being psychic. I agree. The only way to make it even moderately far is to deliberately tumble into every box you run across in order to keep your speed at a bare minimum. Otherwise you can't dodge some of the obstacles (most notably the flying ship that lands in front of you, and the window buildings).

If Terry Cavanagh really wants to make money off of VVVVVV, then he probably should make the full game free. But first, he should create a ton more content. Take the current content and multiply it by ten, so he effectively has 9 more games to sell to people who enjoy the original full version game, and he would make way more than 10 times as much money. Oh man, this advice is solid gold.

no characters that lose in every matchup.
I disagree! A joke character is always fun. Especially if you want to embarrass your friends (or yourself for playing this game so much), or just have fun. Example: Luigi is probably one of the strangest characters in SSB (not bottom tier, but by no means the best). On the other hand, a four-luigi match + Smash Balls only on very high frequency is the most fun you'll ever have playing SSB. Goofy/Joke characters spice things up. Nobody's requiring you to play them. They're just there for fun, and I think at least one could definitely be fit into Brawl.

but dragonmaw, those games you just mentioned are every bit as famous as most of the games he reviewed, if not moreso. minecraft has tens of thousands of players; spelunky probably had like half a million downloads or something.
Unlikely. Sonny 2 at least has literally millions of plays... over at Kongregate. That's not even mentioning Armor Games, which originally hosted it. The same goes to the other top-of-the-Kongregate-ranking games, which all have at least a million views to them. Specifically: Upgrade Complete- 1,800,000 plays Sonny 2- 2,750,000 plays Learn To Fly- 3,275,000 plays (these plays are from Kongregate alone, and do not count the multitude of other flash game websites they're hosted on) I look forward to any video series on indie games, but it has to be understood that "popular" indie flash games will be magnitudes more well-known than "popular" indie downloadable games.

I love how Shawn White dominated everyone in the halfpipe last night. His first run secured his gold medal and he topped it off in his second run with a triple-whammy 1260 McTwist or something like that (a move apparently only he can do). He was getting at least 6 feet of air over everyone else the whole time.
I heard about this. Does anybody know where I could find a video of the coverage? I haven't actually seen any of it yet

I think the best way to handle leveling in RPGs is free re-specs, which gives you the option of fiddling with your stats to increase power, or just grinding normally.
Any system which allows you two options for increasing power is superior to a tunnel-minded leveling system, in my opinion.

I just found out that Soldexus isn't as well known as I had previously thought. It doesn't even have a tigsource article. This is a travesty! Everyone go play it. http://www.yoyogames.com/games/8865(The idgits on yoyo say the combat is bugged because it's difficult. This is a deep level of retardation. They're complaining that you can't backpeddle with your sword. Really, the combat system isn't bugged at all--it's just like every other scrolling swordfighting game.) Yeah, my computer thought it was a trojan and deleted it. I think I'm going to play it safe.

Okay.
Grand prize goes to Mjau for his excellent dance totem.
Honorable mention goes to Markham for "Mango Style", and Theo for pooped shoes.

You know you can still see the post count in your profile, right?
Why not allow each person the option of whether he wants to see post count or not? It's the same way for avatars and signatures.

Are those blocky ships you see after the orange jumping monkey things indestructible? Weaving between them is monumentally difficult with the current movement system.
If you want anybody to make it more than about ten seconds into your game, something's gonna have to change.
I like the concept, but it's too crowded at the moment. I would appreciate a much larger playing field. As things currently are, you basically have to die whenever anything new is introduced, then you memorize where the enemies show up at that point only to immediately die at the next set of enemies. If there were advance warning (IE, a larger field so that you could see the bad dudes from further out) of enemies approaching, you could more effectively deal with them instead of dieing until you understand their movement pattern.
I don't really like the jumping monkeys, because they only display their mechanic once (jumping). If you turn it into a pattern, that is to say having them jump twice while on the screen (once as soon as they enter and then again about halfway down the screen), the player can get an idea of what their movement pattern is before having to deal with them.

I like postcounts It lets me see just how much time I waste here. Yeah, I'm kind of pissed that this just happened. Could we at least see the poll results? If we're not having post count, I would rather we didn't have karma either. That would just be replacing bullshit with more bullshit.

I hope the Kongregate staff aren't taking it too personally, though. They haven't frontpaged it yet like they said they would, and I'm a little worried about that. I'd honestly be pissed if they went back on something like that. If Kongregate's admins really let the thirteen year olds run the site, I'm gonna have to find a new place to play games.
