If you're not too hot on Darkplaces the QRP has links to some other engines. You can probably do without the textures (I only use some techbase textures that I found some time ago because they're the best replacements I've seen. I've forgotten just where though, sorry*), if you just use the rtlights and mess around with the settings it still looks pretty good even if you drop the resolution to something low like 800x600 or even 640x480. It's amazing what it does for the experience, it's like discovering the game all over again.

*Maybe they got incorporated into the QRP itself or maybe they're one of the extras on the bottom of the download page so it might not be a total loss.

Chick singers in metal is so rare. About the only other band I know of to have a female lead is Lacuna Coil. I saw them live, but they were unremarkable in all other aspects.

Oh there's been a few. Ones that instantly come to my mind are Sacrilege (or maybe you'd like something from their later days), Acid, Bitch (of course! A band that has a woman at the helm and they called themselves "Bitch". Creativity to spare, folks) and of course Doro (here performing the most classic of songs from her days in Warlock) who is basically the queen of heavy metal. There I go again all of these are old, who's someone new? Um, you could probably go with Arch Enemy but I'm not really fond of them so I can't really say much. My favourite female growlers tend to be transgendered (I wouldn't go playing that around anyone if I was you.).

This really sounds like Immortal and I'm not just talking about the vocals. This does everything I want from black metal that isn't "out there", I really need to get this album.

It's a mix of pixeled sprites and pre-rendered sprites (which kind of look like they were done by hand) and everything has a boat load of sprite scaling on top of it. The end result is bat-shit crazy.

Build 6, the "You got Bulletstormed!" build. The title screen is shocking and the shadows could look better but it's a start.

Cool, I'll not buy this one too.
