If you do it with more heart, I bet it looks better.

I know people here don't like Ocarina Of Time because it doesn't have pixel graphics...

That's a pretty generalized comment. In fact, I'm sure you'll find plenty of people here who are nostalgic about OoT. Don't put the people of the whole forum in a bag and label it as you see fit, it's disrespectful.

Pretty sure that was quite tongue in cheek.

Btw, PGGB, did you know that 99% of all statistics is made up on the spot?

Of course, that's why clever people realise that the numbers in statistics are beside the point.

Also I stand by my point without trying to upset anyone. I can see C++ being the pragmatic choice (I've used it in the past), but I have trouble seeing other significant advantages than its performance that other languages are not better at.

I dunno though. If you're not good enough to figure out a real programming lang, than are you good enough to produce a good, fun, non-buggy game? I think that if you're good enough to make a game like Iji that C++ shouldn't even be a problem for you.

C++ is just a horrible language. The only big advantage is its performace. And guess what, that advantage is useless for 99% of indie games since they are not really that taxing performance-wise.

it's a shame that video as such a primitive collision engine

I can't find YPS (yulunga platformer system) i help on Sad
RPG-Maker platformers are still terrible. :D

Action RPGs still work reasonably well but once you move further away from roleplaying games it just gets silly.
This is still one of the best action battle systems I've ever seen but sadly it's only a tech demo. Shooters also work ok with the key patch or newer RPG-Maker versions.

Here's another impressive use of the RM2k that works reasonably well.

You just have to know where to look.

RPG-Maker has some severe limitations but the German RPG-Maker community is really good at pushing it.

Examples here and here.

Maybe you shouldn't play it at school then.

What do museums have to do with all this?

Or a symbolic way to support others who have had their freedom infringed upon?
It can be seen either way.

You can be supportive without being an ass to people who have done nothing wrong.

Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law without contradiction.

Arimasunaku method may match your needs.

Great that is much simpler still. If only I knew what Arimasunaku is. :D

How is this trolling? Huh?
It's just asking for trouble.

Yep I definitely need a PS3. Demon's Souls, LBP2 and in the future Persona 5.  Kiss

They're never mysterious if you're an experienced C++ programmer (and they shouldn't appear often enough to be bothersome if you are indeed an experienced C++ programmer).

Fix'd.

I've been enjoying Python and AS3 for the past year or two, and so I'd forgotten what it means when it crashes with a segfault citing something happening in ntdll.dll. I'm more used to 'Oh, hey Mr. Programmer - the image you're trying to use doesn't appear to exist!' these days.
The mythical experienced C++ programmer?  Tongue

I'm happy with Steam and if Valve suddenly turn evil I just pirate all the games I already bought so I can play them again.  Smiley

What about the multiplayer games though?

TF2 wouldn't be as fun if there wasn't such a big community Sad

Well I don't see it happening any time soon. Multiplayer games die and by the time Valve is evil I'm sure there will be other multiplayer games to fill the gap. Wink

Well it's just listed under System Requirements. You need to download it, start it once while online and then you're golden.

Ehm, you need to download it ofc.
359  Player / General / Re: Portal is now free for Mac+PC! on: May 14, 2010, 11:05:39 AM
I never played Portal because I have a Mac, so this is great.  Does anyone know if they will be following suit with releasing L4D or TF2 for Mac?
Yep TF2, L4D, CSS and HL will all be available. I'd say next wednesday will see TF2.

I think audio being a mess is more of a problem.
