i don't think it does, xion. my suite-mate found it and i was amazed when he showed me. that alone has probably saved me like half an hour of flipping through menus

you might be able to map at least a few shits to xbox buttons anyway? On the 360 actual, left and right d-pad do nothing. Would be nice if I could assign hand sets to them. Up and down bring up the favorites menu, but that could easily be contained to either up or down, and another preset assigned to the remaining direction. If this were the case I'd set the directions to my most common offensive sets and save the favorites menu for only rarer spells and potions.

if you hold left or right d-pad on an item in the favorites menu, it maps that item to left or right so you don't have to open the favorites menu

mikejkelley, for an idle pose you don't need nearly that much motion. That's almost closer to a weird sort of exercise more than it is to a person waiting to do something. Try to keep it as subtle as you can get it while it's still readable, and leave the more exaggerated motions for the action sequences. For and idle, it's actually pretty common to have just a still image, but that's not really ideal.

I drew a rough run cycle for Don Dracula

I might make a thread in Devlogs after I get a good start on the gameplay, if that ever happens

and Andy, Fez already won. That's the point. Should past winners be allowed to re-enter despite the fact that due to winning _already_ they were able to put more work into their game?

Yeah. If they've still put the work in since they last won, I think they should. If they enter the same game that won last time  without having improved it at all, they're assholes who should be laughed out of the competition. But that's not what's happening here

Making it easy to be successful would be worse than rewarding those who are doing what they need to be. There are a lot of people who deserve a lot more recognition, but I don't think it's helping anyone to hate on random people. It would probably be more productive to do something about it
350  Player / General / Re: IGF Thread 2012 on: October 14, 2011, 03:16:50 PM
Isn't the IGF a competition? No fair competition should refuse competitors just because they're more likely to win, or because they have put more work into their entry than others might have. That would be silly. That's certainly not the way life works anywhere else. Except some instances of organized crime.

If a game deserves to win, I hope it will. Even if some people have heard of its creators.

That said, I was kind of sickened to see Minecraft win so many time last year. They should have at least given the money to someone who needed it. But to me, Fez is entirely different

This is a really good idea for a competition, and it actually seems to be generating a pretty nice set of rules.

How about Survival must not be the primary game mechanic, so we something more interesting than a bunch of "try to do x without dying" games.

i like this

that last one's got kind of a thrustburst vibe

you've got a nice thing going with your grays and blues, but don't be afraid of adding other colors in somewhere. if done tastefully it could make this really juicy

Oh, bollocks, I've been so busy with school I forgot about this. I've got a lot of work and a blitzkast to do before tonight, but I'll see if I can scrape up something sufficiently terrible
