This sounds like a really fantastic project. If completed, I'd say it would be a great asset to development.

Good luck to you in your endeavors, good sir

that's pretty awesome, Kenju, but it's a bit low on contrast I would say
883  Developer / Creative / Re: So what are you working on? on: February 28, 2009, 06:39:58 PM
I just got back from an awesome week's vacation

after playing a boatload of Spelunky, I messed around a bit with making platform engines with various helpful features and eventually made this little engine which I probably won't use for anything

This is super amazing. I see much improvement from an older version I remember playing on DA. Great job with this

is that one level possible where you can't walk left? I certainly couldn't get by it.

891  Developer / Collaborations / Re: QAB - Quick Adventure Box on: February 20, 2009, 01:27:57 PM
thanks

nothing is happening with this at the moment (due mostly to my other projects like SOS and some other stuff), but I still tentatively plan to do it eventually. probably over the summer unless people insist that I masochistically work on it earlier.

furthermore, I'm currently only capable of writing programs in GM, and this is unlikely to drastically change in the near future. so I dunno how it all is going to go down.

I went and played all of them
the magic catflap: this was interesting. the catflap itself was really cool, and I like cats. :3  also nice spriting here
valentine: this was also interesting, though it wasn't exciting (I doubt it was meant to be Smiley)
love letter: sexy
small game for my girlfriend: I liked the music and it was fun for a while, but it got boring pretty quickly
lovely: thanks to all you guys who liked it, your comments make me happy.
coulomb's law: this was a nice little puzzle game. pretty fun
i love you: i laughed
heart heist: this game is amazing. its just fabulous. it's also really difficult in a nostalgic way (old games were hard; i'm thinking super ghouls and ghosts). great job Moth and Battlerager
kiss me: i like what you did with the partial 3 dimensions. I can't really say too much about this since I couldn't get past the 'apart' level by myself
mouse and mouse: I can't say too much for this one either since I didn't play it with anyone else
love me: god damnit terry
european hand love with boy 1 and 2: I liked the style, sort of, but what the hell is it?

895  Player / Games / Re: Why On Earth Would You Want To Make Your Own Game If You Already Know The Ending on: February 18, 2009, 01:23:38 PM
normally I make games to play them and let others play them
also like others have said it's a good logical challenge, and creating stuff is just really fun for me

I made an art game and put it in the feedback section, and when people played it they pointed out that some parts of it had a meaning which I didn't intend, or put in by accident. I found this to be really interesting, and though I still disagree with calling games art I'm starting to think that making those silly art games is rather fun. In the future when I make a more serious game I'll definitely have to put some of those silly artsy-type hidden meanings and such in it, just to see what people say.

898  Feedback / Playtesting / Re: Lovely on: February 17, 2009, 01:15:09 PM
Did you write the music too?
oh crap I didn't credit my friend  D:
The music was written by Evan "Fuchuzz" Rodriguez. You should go listen to more of his great stuff here.

thank you both for your comments, I appreciate you playing it and I'm really glad you liked it.

I haven't read the Dark Tower series; I'll have to look into this.

As for the ambiguous meaning, I feel that keeping the meaning ambiguous can be best when trying to include a meaning to something. Sometimes if you have a message you want to get across it can be good to have a little less vagueness than this has. I just thought the vagueness made it less depressing than it might have been if I'd made the meaning more solid

and I personally just don't really agree with art games or people calling their games art. this game was super hypocritical  Big Laff
