FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF that's a marvellous idea. CLI game without the CLI feedback. Awesome.

Rendered some pchat thing. not entirely happy with it but it was fun to do a dynamic pose for once. I really need to get a cleaner linework process going though, too sketchy at this scale <_<

CSS for my site. Need feedback on it, it's still kind of shabby. Not sure about the shadows, though it could be that the rest of the content needs to be smoother not them harsher. To be honest, I'm a little stumped, so I'm going to call it a night.
2064  Developer / Creative / Re: What do you use to create and animate sprites? on: October 13, 2010, 09:51:37 PM
Whatever I have at hand. I prefer Photoshop but GIMP does nicely in linux (though the obtuse interface that I can't be bothered customising gets to me on occasion). If that's not available and I'm on windows, I default to mspaint.

Every piece of Jasc software I've used gave me a headache, seems the designers have different ideas about usability to me.

Platform game with xml block positionning.
Also, players with extra-thin limbs.
And a love story hidden somewhere, sometime.
I really like that terrain.

First unlockable for Prelude: A .303 repeater. Going to have to implement a lot of extra stuff on the damage system though before getting anywhere near release (tracking who kills whom with what is very important). Still, it is kind of fun to have a repeating weapon in-game.

It's very likely too long in the sprite though..

jwaap that's awesome Smiley

I just like how weighty gomez's movement looks. Hopefully it'll play the same way.
2068  Developer / Technical / Re: Crater - a very basic physics engine for lots of crates on: October 13, 2010, 02:39:38 AM
I'm on a very low end machine here, 30fps (i'm assuming it's locked there) with 199 crates.

Friction would be nice. Like, a force on both crates. It'd make them feel less static, and also possibly mean you could drag crates around on top of each other.

Viewed stuff is working, finally. Cookie restrictions are dumb to work around, and serialisation refused to work so I eventually decided to go for a cheap hack and serialise it myself with a separator and just use explode on it later. Turns out that's a good way to do it and now it works. Take that, meddlesome limitations!

Id really like to make a farming game.  Something like harvest moon.
Freaking love that game. It'd be nice to see something new done with it.

EMBARK SYSTEM FOR YOU PEOPLE THAT NEED MORE BULLETS. It's kinda shabby at the moment but it's a sign of things to come. Read all about it here, or just go play (it's self explanatory).

@JR, sereneworks & nate: Cheers, I'll clean up more next time. I don't really use the eraser often enough when doing studies.

Another one from last night I forgot to post, ran out of time though <_<

@nate: cool, though his right hand looks odd. Gardening tools?

Face scribble

I would love to see more game-making propaganda. Coffee
I like these too.

I want to spin it!
Very pretty work, I made a similar face to gomez.

Nice work TLB, I'm going to need to work that into my custom flixel at some point..

My forums are coming along nicely. They still look kinda "meh" at the moment but the functionality makes me happy. BBcode, user tags, anti-flooding and thread bumping are all done, I just need to make the content cyclic and do a few interface matters. Back to working on the game, but I'm going for a run first.

Hot.
Some of the tiling is funny though, down the bottom.

Its background flipper is too big but that doesn't stop it from being rad.
2079  Developer / Creative / Re: So what are you working on? on: October 08, 2010, 02:01:53 PM
I was going to delay making bbcode and usertags work for the blog commenting system but changed my mind and mashed it together to prevent confusion. Looks like the bbcode algos are going to be static for a while, unless someone finds an exploit or something.

I'm not sure what's happening today, I might add some of the more ergonomic features (thread count, post count per thread etc) because I technically need them to implement the big one, cyclic content.

Discuss, I want to hear what everyone thinks in one place.

@jwaap: I wanna play!

Working BBCode!
regular expressions are ugly at times, even for something simple like that.
