I'd like to throw RetroMUD if just because it has like 60 or so pretty unique races. All playable.

Could never quite get into it though, maybe I'll sometime try again.
302  Feedback / Playtesting / Re: Need some specific feedback (Sorry if this breaks a rule!) on: August 10, 2009, 02:56:26 AM
I can't really give you any artistic feedback or opinion on this, since I'm not much of an artist myself, but what I can say is that this character artwork really works well for me. If given a good palette of emotions I think I could grow attached to the character during the course of the game.

Avatar also happens to be what this first reminded me of and I personally think the "Avatar style" is a pretty solid style.

You should try to avoid using the typical run-off-the-mill anime expressions, except for maybe in a comedic situation. Otherwise it'd really just ruin it.

A good negative example is probably Zenonia for the iPhone. It also features your typical anime hero with a really limited set of cliched expression that are used at completely wrong situations. The dialogues in that game are already pretty forced but the faces used at it really make me skip through them as fast as possible.

Oho, TIG Jam Engaland, sounds interesting. I have no plans for that time yet, so yeah, I might be able to join in. I'll see how things develop...

We probably still owe each other a beer or something like that :D

Color me interested, too Smiley

Personally I'm fine with any date that is not earlier than the end of September, because if I try to take vacation AGAIN before that I'll probably get the evil eye from my boss.

Also it's not any more expensive than Berlin for me, since it's practically the same distance (plus minus a 100km I guess).

So, yeah, you guys tell me when and where and I'll most likely be there Gentleman

I'd buy that.

It took me way, way too long to figure out why a flight to London apparently only takes like 20 minutes, but the flight back about 2 hours.

I wish I would've actively participated in it instead of just silently cursing at it :D

But yeah, really good job guys. I was really wondering how you were going to make a game from these disjointed and bizarre scenes but you definitely pulled it off.

Okay, I uploaded the Croissant game now, in it's raw form as it was presented at the jam just, well, working. Link is in the post with my other games.
309  Feedback / Playtesting / Bad Apple on: August 06, 2009, 01:27:50 AM
Bad Apple is one of the games I made on the bigjam and would like some actual feedback on, since I'm currently really fond of the idea to fleshen this out a bit into a real game.

Instructions:
You play the Apple and gain points by eating Oranges (the smallest things). There are two modes, shooting and eating which you can freely switch between. Shooting is the only way to break up the larger enemies into smaller ones and eventually oranges. You are vulnerable to everything in shooting mode and the larger enemies kill you in both modes. Additionally, with each orange you gain more fullness. If it reaches 100 you are full and get killed if you touch another Orange.

Controls:
X - Switching
C - Shooting (when in shooting mode)
Cursor Keys - Moving

I know the graphics are shitty as hell, so please no feedback on them. The game was quickly thrown together in 3 hours for a jam so it probably isn't perfect. Just want some feedback on how to improve the general idea.

It's made in Construct so you'll probably need Windows and the newest DirectX to play it.

Download

Here the games I worked on. I'd say these should be seen as prototypes rather than proper games :D

Croissant

A game inspired by "Don't Shit Your Pants" made in AS3. The point is to eat the croissant without getting killed in the process. Collab between chrisjan (code), qubodup (graphics), C418 (music) and me, made for the first 3-hour jam.
Sadly can't put up a download yet, since the game is slightly broken. Will fix it asap.

Random Space

Made for the 3-hour jam with the theme "Random". You play a fly in space and have to find something. Made in Construct.

Bad Apple

Made for the 3-hour jam with the theme "Bad Apples". It's a shooter where the character can alternate between eating and shooting. When eating it can eat the smallest enemies, when shooting it can shoot them out again. If it hits a larger enemy the game is over.
X for switching and C for shooting. Made in Construct.

Realitv TV Action Game!!!

Made for the 3-hour jam with the theme "Reality TV". It's sort of a meta game I guess. Needs a webcam and internet to work. Instructions are in the game. Made in Construct (I was surprised it had a webcam object).

Isn't Crazy Machines essentially the same as TIM?

I give jstckr and corpus the thumb up to do this again whenever they want to. I'll be there.

Here my entry for the "Reality TV" 3hour jam, since I'll be leaving before it's over.

Instructions in the game, needs to be played on a computer with a webcam and internet. When the program is started you should see your face, if not it won't work.

Bonus points will be awarded to anyone wearing C418's ticket.
It's soo on!

It's gonna be even better if only the German guys wear it.

I can bring a really old camcorder (still uses a MemoryStick instead of MemoryStick Pro) which probably isn't all that great in terms of quality but still better than nothing.

I just need to get the MemoryStick Duo I put in the MemoryStick slot out again somehow.

Actually, scratch that. I don't have a classic MemoryStick and can't find a (physical) place to buy one, so all I have to go with is the tape in it and I wouldn't even know how to get that on a computer.

The swine flu is (according to media) totally all over Germany now anyway, so the chances of you bringing it in are probably lower than you getting it here Durr...?

We were to Spain a few weeks ago and my sister got some disease or other there too (not Swine Flu related) and nobody even asked at either airport (Düsseldorf and Alicante respectively).
