1121  Feedback / Playtesting / Re: The Mushroom Engine on: April 17, 2009, 01:47:05 AM
will there be an updated version with more levels or is this the final version already?

I guess this'll be the last version, at least the engine is fully working now. I might create another world there, though. We'll see. Smiley

allright, that would be great.  Smiley

tried it first and thought ? ? ? ? but then after scanning through the readme it made sense.
well done! the game is fun and the concept is awesome!

will there be an updated version with more levels or is this the final version already?
1124  Feedback / Playtesting / Re: In 60 Seconds on: April 16, 2009, 09:02:52 AM
that was fun!  Beer!

first i thought: well 60 seconds...not that much to discover all the stuff that you mentioned... but the game mechanic unfolds pretty well: collect a) to get to b) etc.
i needed about 6-8 tries and it was never frustrating.
the graphics  are pretty good (maybe improve the title screen a bit and thats it) and so are the sound effects
->i would like to see a longer game in that style.

i made an epic walkthrough with rank b Gentleman
(of course i left all the gems aside for a less hectic game experience...
no time for fancy gems  Wink

1 min walkthrough ( 4MB / 640x480 MP4)
http://www.mediafire.com/?1jkjwhazlmm

also i found one trap that doesnt allow you to solve the game in the given 60 seconds.
(first i thought it was a hidden passage where i can get some gems...but then it was crystal clear that there were no way out!)

heres the proof:
stuck in 30 seconds! ( 0,5 MB / 640x480 MP4)

I'm really, REALLY, looking forward to action fist :O

I mean, the music is awesome, and the gameplay looks like Cave Story (The shooting, and the bullets themselves Tongue)

Also, Purple seems really interesting too, but the trailer basically shows boss after boss. It's an actual game right? Or just a big bossrush?

purple is a level based platformer...
i recommend that you check out the demo.  Smiley polished game.

Life+
http://lifeplus-pastel.blogspot.com/

seems that this game could turn out into a good and interesting metroidvania...

Quote
...Alright, somebody suggested I do sort of a digest post to welcome people to the concept. What we have here is a thematically organized, largely nonlinear Metroidvania...

...More similar to Doki Doki Panic/Super Mario Brothers 2 USA than anything else, the combat involves ripping up chunks of floor and hurling them at enemies and obstacles...

according to the newest update life+ will include a good looking arcade shooter!

adam the developer of Roly Poly Pumpkin, Streetwise and A to B Basset is developing a mouse controlled game with similarities to kuru kuru kururin (the gba game with the turning stick).
a playable early version with simple graphics can be downloaded here but the whole game will be remade according to adam: "Based on my Mouse-controlled entry recently, I have decided to remake the game, but add more to the gameplay and improve the graphics. "

i recommend to take a look at the pretty good looking trailer of the newer version.

Secret Maryo Chronicles 1.8
52 MB (+ optional 35 MB Music Package)
http://www.secretmaryo.org/
Gameplay Clip

well i played an earlier version of this game (i think it was a pre 1.2 release) and found it not so good.
anyways...2 days ago there was released version 1.8 and i thought give it another try...
the improvements are notable and its now an ok game but still it cannot be compared to the greatness of the good old plumber.  Wink

controls are a bit slippery and some animations and graphics (the turtles) are meh...but that aside its a nice effort so far.
the fact that the developers are working and improving it and that it is a multi platform game (win, mac, linux) make it good enough to keep an eye on the further development.

I'm enjoying the demo of Karma: the Game. Thanks for posting it.

after i tested it for a few minutes i was convinced that this game is worth it to add it to the list but i didnt knew that i would have that much fun when i would play more than just a few minutes...

today i played the game for about an hour (then i got stuck) and i have to say it is a really great and very promising game. Smiley
a beautiful and chilling exploration platformer experience that pays much attention to the details!
from the communication through pics, over the chilling music and the mission based gameplay and the lovely graphics.
really good stuff.

Another Bound
34 MB
Translated Site
Original Japanese Site
Gameplay Video

an interesting fps with many similarities to metroid prime.
played this game when i first heard about it via tim on his former indygamer blog.
as far as i remember it was pretty decent...it was version 1.x or something...
today i stumbled over this game again and found out that there was released a version 2.0 called
another bound neo.
unfortunately the game doesnt work on my pc...
maybe it works for you...

and maybe someone know what to do to solve this issue....
anyways here is the older version another bound 1.1.8 which works on my pc.
the game is in japanese (except the menu) and therefore...well its not an easy task to follow the story line if you dont speak japanese.

according to the readme another bound neo 2.0 was released 24.01.2008.
would be interesting to know what are the differences to version 1.1.8 and whether or not this game is still in development...
