Thanks for the responses all. I'll probably go with Arcanum. Morrowind is a good call too, but I'm not sure that we would be able to run it. Still, it's worth a shot.

Haha. Yeah... Fallout 3 is a no-go. I'm actually not in any hurry to play it myself, really, given the controversy surrounding the rights being bought out from under Black Isle, etc... but that's another thread, I suppose. I've heard a good deal about the RPG series that Shrapnel Games developed (is that Geneforge?) and as this is an Indie gaming community, you lot might know more about that than I. Either way, I'm sure that I'd be able to run it.  Tongue

Arcanum is a good call, and I've actually already mentioned that to her - but I'm not sure that I'm 100% on it exactly for the reason that you mentioned, and the near-insane difficulty level. I played through it as an archer and had to wander around aimlessly for days, getting into random encounters just so that I could level enough to take on the first major dungeon.

I LOVE Bloodlines, and I know that she would too - but there's no way in hell that I would be able to run it on her rig. I've never played the first Vampire, but that might be an option...

I just moved in with my girlfriend, who hasn't played many PC games. I installed Fallout 2 for her and we played through it together and she loved it. Her favorite aspects of it were the non-linearity, heavy atmosphere and great characters. This got the wheels turning - what other RPGs can we play together that has these qualities? I thought of Planescape: Torment and Deus Ex, but both of those games are rather combat-intensive, which she isn't too into. Also, she's not a fan of console-style turn-based combat at all (al-a Final Fantasy). Lastly, the PC in question is a bit of an artifact - a Dell Dimension 2400 with integrated video. Do you guys have any good recommendations?

Hello all.

I'm Nate. I live in Philly. I've been lurking this board for ages.

I take it back to the KnP glory days, where I made my own levels for Trigger Happy just for fun. Aside from that (un)achievement, I'm just an enthusiast. I am, however, a musician and would love to work with some aspiring developers to work on soundtracks.

I would probably kiss messhof and cactus on the lips. Don't tell my girlfriend.

Yeah. And, um, TIGsource is made of solid gold win.
