Haha, nice. Laughs were had. Good job.

Nice idea; however, it's render unplayable for me when moving the mouse like five pixels will cause a 360 degree turn. Sad It might be a matter of how I have my mouse configured, I don't know. Anyway, first-person racketing sounds amusing, so I hope you keep working on this.

So, I've made several improvements to the game (in an off-compo version), most notable the presence of a hotseat multiplayer mode! So, those of you who wanted to compete against a real life frend, you can now. For online friends, you'll have to wait a little. This one also features a slightly more difficult computer opponent.

@superfoonly: Thanks! Yes, you're supposed to press refresh. That is by design; I like the deliberate action, and the sense of starting over. Otherwise it would feel like a loop, I guess.

@louroboros: Prime Ministered.

Thanks for playing!

@ananasblau: Curious to hear what you'd imagine this being if it were 'better polished'. I personally don't find it lacking much polish; it's small, which is not the same thing as it being unpolished.

You definitely have a gift for telling amusing stories! I laughed out loud at the Louis thing near the end. I'm now wondering if the story can be changed at all given different team alignments; however, the puzzle part I'm not fond of at all and ended up solving it by brute force each time. :/ Opaque as though the puzzling may be, I enjoyed how it played a part in the storytelling (like finding out about Isa's problem before it was made plain and evident). So the way I played this was: first I explored the relationships between the characters by moving them from team to team and watching how their numbers changed, then I'd just brute-force my way to a solution in order to continue.

Anyway, great game you have here. Grew fond of the whole cast.

P.S.: I tried, but I never figured out Louis.

This is completely brilliant. I don't know what else to say about it. I love it.

Oh yeah, too bad that you changed to overhead rather than super scaler-type graphics, just because I'm super fetishistic about that style in particular. But never mind, the game is great.

@louroboros: Wow, if that's a serious suggestion, totally! How would the pairing work, though? Linking to a specific URL, say? (http://www.game.com/?id=355543)

@DISHTY: Woops, I introduced a bug in some fix I did earlier. Words already played you shouldn't be able to repeat. Thanks for the heads up; I'll fix it.

edit: And it works as intended again!

Well, a version in which two players take turns with the keyboard is totally conceivable, but I wouldn't dare open the can of worms that's online play with this simple thing. :)

I seem to have broken the AI for the duration of one round! It kept hugging one of the two walls. Fixed itself after I scored. Not sure what caused it, don't really remember what I did just before.

Anyway, enjoyable stuff. Want to play with a human, seems perfect for a few quick plays. I also agree with whilefun: 'crazy fast' is where it's at.

Well, this is *tough*. You say you can have a hole-in-one in every hole?! What about those hole-to-pipe things?

It didn't have sound here, I suppose because I'm using Wine on a Mac, but thanks to that I guess I couldn't experience the whole deal, sadly. Also there was annoying, distracting flickering in the background outside the game image. But I could play it, despite being on a Mac, yes.

So yeah, solid, simple mini-golf. I'll have to try it with more people later to take advantage of the multiplayer, which is a cool addition.

Heh, really silly. I got more of a shmup vibe rather than an RPG one, though.

Cool, voxels! Cute thing you have so far; great work on the dog animation, and the engine is looking super good.

Interesting approach to the AI. As I like racing games, I've more than once wondered what the best solution for this problem would be. Yours seems solid at first glance. The dogs did seem to be going off-track more than necessary in the third track, though.

I hope you wrap this up into a more complete package. Maybe not the massive idea of raising and breeding dogs, but just the more basic racing aspects that you already have in place, with some more polish?

Oh, haha. Weird, I'd have guessed that the arrows are much less likely to do that. Sucks.

Interesting to approach a tennis game from a fighting game perspective.

Thanks again, guys.

@Fifth: The 'AI' works like this: It first picks a random word from the list of words that starts with the assigned letter. If it doesn't contain the last letter from the previous play, it tries with another random word, up to ten times. Then it starts spelling it, with a randomized interval between 'key presses', and for each, a 1% chance that it'll grab a random letter rather than the next letter in the picked word. That is, supposing an average of 6 letters per word, it makes a mistake every 17 words on average, plus the (super low) probability that it'll pick the wrong word from the start. I wonder if I should really lower the chance of picking the wrong letter!
